Good Afternoon,I didn't want to hijack Calypso' s post but I also have an enquiry re Eliquis.
I recently bit the bullet and as advised by my Cardiologist have started taking Eliquis.
I am on PIP - Flecainide and Metropolol. As time has gone on, it's taking longer for me to revert to sinus rhythm.
Hence commencement of Eliquis 5mg - twice daily. I have been taking this for nearly 3 weeks. I have experienced symptoms of vertigo. Not so much dizziness but vertigo. Persevering but contemplating visiting GP for advise as whether to continue or maybe change anti coagulant.
I understand medical advise best from the experts. Seeking any similar experiences and or timeline to consider visit to my GP.
Cheers Cam

Vertigo can be caused by inner ear issues. Have the been ruled out? They are usually easily resolved by moving the crystals in the ear chambers through manipulation techniques.
I have had this a few times but not due to taking Eliquis. My wife got a similar thing -Labyrinthitis (?) I think they called it but she was dizzy and feeling nauseous just rising from a chair. This came on a couple of days after testing negative for Covid (she tested positive for 18 days. It still comes back now and again - the GP gave her a large box of tablets and said you may just have to take 3 or you may have to take the whole box before it sorts it self. She still has most of the box left as initially took it for just a few days before feeling better. Since then she has had a couple more episodes and taken the tablets for a day or two and they have stopped.
Always best to see your GP and ensure that this is not connected to anything else but keep on with the Eliquis for about 6 -8 weeks if you can and it may sort itself out.
That’s good advice. My wife and a friend have large packs, too - unused mainly. I think they’re called prochlorperazine and are also travel sickness pills. They don't seem to do much but cause mild drowsiness but have a long list of quite worrying potential side effects.
Yes. that's them. I think my wife has taken just one full foil of them over the last year, and only takes them when she feels really bad as quite often once she is up and moving around the symptoms tend to go. She hasn't taken any for ages as not had the bad effects of being unable to get up from a chair without feeling nauseous for quite a while.
Funny you should mention vertigo as that's what took me to hospital where I first learned that I have AF. Am on Eliquis, cholesterol meds and half a BP tablet (from after a heart attack in 2020) The hospital thought it was heart related but it seems it's BPPV related (Google it.. it's related to the inner ear). What have your medical team said? Anyhow... salutations from Melbourne, Australia (bloody cold here at present )
Thank for your reply, I hope you are keeping well. I have made an appt for my GP on Monday. See how the weekend goes, fingers crossed all well and will see GP on Monday. BrisVegas for me, shirts off weather for us😉
Not sure about Brisvegas weather just now. Yesterday I read in the Guardian that "Queensland also broke its record for maximum winter electricity demand at 8,728 megawatts, up 12 megawatts from the previous record on 4 July, 2022", and my brother keeps mentioning the cold weather.
I’m on the same dose and I’ve had vertigo more since I’ve been o these tablets, I wonder if there is a link, I did have vertigo before but very rare though .
Hi, the worst side effect I've had is apixaban has made my arthritis much worse. All my joints in constant pain and discomfort. You cannot get any help from docs as they love apixaban and don't associate arthritis pain with it, although Tracy's link shows joint pain as a side effect.
Thank you to all who shared their experiences and provided valuable information re my Eliquis post.
Update: I visited GP today and he was keen for me to persevere. GP has requested I take and prescribed a 2.5mg dosage. I will take for a month and all going well I will revert to 2 x 5 mg daily. Weekend wasn't too bad and hopefully all will be well.
