Taken too much by mistake

This morning, I grabbed what I thought was colchicine for gout and took 3....then returned to look at container and it was my metoprolol! Called the poison hot line after trying to bring them back up (along with my other morning meds) and was suggested to contact my doctor or got to ER for monitoring. The answering service had their on-call contact me - he felt my low dosage (25 mg) wouldn't put me in danger and told me not to worry.

Has anyone else had experience with too much metoprolol? Plan to monitor my BP but as my heart rate runs high (80's at rest) I think it will be okay.

I would have said not to panic as its not a high dose. Anyway you've been reassured.

I once titrated up to 20mg Bisoprolol during a fast AF episode instead of 10mg , the usual maximum dose . I took 4 x 5mg instead of 4 x 2.5mg. I was quite alarmed when I realised and was still in a pretty high rate. Phoned 111 who sent out paramedics . I was duly transported to A&E and eventually dc cardioverted.
