Heartburn from Digoxin

On Digoxin 2 plus weeks. Blood level fine. Am having constant heartburn/nausea. My Dr said not a usual side effect. Tough it out? or go back on Lopressor which had its own side effects. Many say it will get better. Permanent persistent afib.

The timing of when you take medication can often have repercussions for your oesophagus. Some meds should be taken when you can remain upright (sitting or standing) for up to 2 hours after. I’ve only just learnt this and usually take mine just as I’m going to bed. I may have to revisit this routine. You should also take a full glass of water with your medication to help ‘wash it down’.

l have just been prescribed this med. Only two days in and upset stomach and diarrhoea. I have left a message at my Surgery for advice, but l can’t see me tolerating this. I have hiatus hernia. If you read the leaflet heartburn/nausea is a side effect. I hope it’s just a temporary blip for you.
