I was diagnosed with AF about a year ago and I am currently taking Amiodarone (I tablet a day) and Elliquis (blood thinner tablet). Given I have lung Emphysema and Bronchiectasis, the Doctor did not recommend to take Bisoprolol. With the two medication I am taking, my AF is under control and I am having an Ablation on the 6th June 2024 and I am a bit worried due to my lung problem. Is there anyone out there with Lung Emphysema and had an AF ablation? Thanks

AF with Lung Emphysema & Bronchiectasis
I cannot help you with the ablation, as I have never had one, However, I have Asthma and Chronic Bronchitis, and take 1,25mg Bisoprolol daily for my AF. I have asked 3 very highly qualified Cardiologists (I live in South Africa), who in addition to local qualifications, have post graduate qualifications from major Western Countries, about taking Biso with my lungs. All of them have said that is a cardiac specific BB, one said third generation( what ever that is), that will not affect my lung conditions. I really am confused, as so many people on here say their EP does not permit it because of their lungs, I find that it is a perfect rate controller for me, keeping me in the mid 60s and never above 100 BPM. I would love reference to recent studies on this, to put my mind at rest. Verapamil does nothing for me!
