so I’m day five after ablation and last night I had afib for what seemed ages but prob three hours.

Now my cardio in the past has saud said another bisoprolol 1.25 if it happens

I take one of this in morning with my flecainade 100. Elequis twice day too.

Now after ablation so recent should you still be able to take anothe bisprolol or should you lie there relax and wait. Just want to be prepared in case.

I can’t ask my cardio as it’s bank holiday here in France , everything shut till Tuesday.

If you were given permission by your doctor to take extra bisoprolol for an afib episode, I don't see how that would change just because you've had an ablation. Not medical advice just an opinion. Hope you feel better.

Thanks Jim,

I will if it happens as I’m in a low dose anyway aren’t it

When I had AF after my atrial flutter ablation, I was given 5mg bisoprolol and I was back in NSR within an hour. I would try to phone your GP or similar for advice but what Jim says sounds spot on to me.

I’m sure you’ll be fine. We can’t give medical advice here but I have been told that a beta blocker is safe if it doesn’t make your heart rate uncomfortably low. The difficulty for me is how low is that? On 2.5mg my pulse drops to low 40s at times already.

La belle France has been getting some worryingly negative stories in some of our press lately. I hope all is well over there, my favourite country!

Gosh low 40’s is a tad low eh. I’m 1.25 and mid sixties.

France is fine at the mo not sure what the Brit press are saying, it all seems calm, farmers seem to have stopped dropping muck in protest, but I think brit press always like a dig at Macron. I got my ablation very quick could have had it within a month of asking so can’t fault health here.

It’s my second ablation my hearts not stopped jumping seems to hate it if I eat even small meals….. maybe at last I will get slim , always a bright side somewhere in gloom eh Steve.

Hi Morzine.

First off I'm not a doctor - so this post is just based on my personal experience.

I can function very well on low 50's high 40's HR. If it drops below 40 I would seek medical attention there and then. 60 to 100 beat per minute is considered safe. I for one would pot for 60 beats a minute rather than a 100.

Well that’s good to know Paul as sometime I do see my pulse in the early 50’s.

Hi Sue.

As I say I'm not a doctor but I would be delighted with a HR in the low 50's at rest.

Enjoy your day.

Hi, I had an ablation in November 2023 and on discharge was told to stick to my normal pill in pocket regime if I experienced any AF. Regime was an additional 2 .5 bisoprolol and 200 flecanide. I took this a couple of times in recent months and it worked well without any ill effects. My AF has settled down but it took a little longer than the 3 month blanking period I was told about. Hopefully yours will settle as mine did , it was a bit disheartening but fingers crossed it may have helped.

Thanks Gambia,

That’s good to hear about the tablets. A few now have saud that . Goid yours has settled now. I’m on my second but felt ok after it first time. But sane as you I took more than three months with my energy.

I’m hoping these erratic beats will leave me.

My experience is only taking 1.25 once day (morning) together with 5 of apixaban twice a day. Been taking 14 months when Dr suddenly decided the Apixaban was too strong for my kidneys!

Oh gosh that’s a shame with apixaban I’m fine with it.
