Yesterday i went out to The short story writers. For the first time ever i took a few verapamil tabs in my pocket. I suddenly realised , Ive become reliant on something to keep me going, well so is food ,water etc. If you were offered Pace and Ablate, would you take it or would you be so concerned at being totally reliant on a machine for your existance ?
What are we reliant on.: Yesterday i... - Atrial Fibrillati...
What are we reliant on.
Yes, had the Pacemaker implant but if AF progresses so that my AF burden impacts my QOL yes, wouldn’t hesitate. Have you concerns.?
If it was what I needed and helped me then I would have no qualms whatsoever. A younger cousin of mine recently (about a year ago) had a pacemaker fitted (a really fancy things that sends readings to the hospital too) and he is now pretty much as active as he was previously and he has always been a fit and active person being a competitive athlete in running and local football. he no longer competes exactly but still takes part which is the main thing.
I would be very fearful of it, I imagine, but then, what else, but get used to it? If it came to it, I think I would just take my specialist's advice and do as was suggested. I tend to have a very trusting nature of medical experts, still.
Steve
I've considered a pacemaker implant (to increase my low heart rate) because it would basically give the doctors/me more medical options for the afib. However, I did not like the published complication rates. I decided I was not ready for that step, although I suspect, I may change my mind a bit further down the road.
Just to be hopefully reassuring you would not be totally reliant on the pacemaker. If it failed for some reason your ventricles would keep beating but very slowly and there would be time for the problem to be fixed - it wouldn’t be ‘lights out’.
Yes and also low battery signal would be noted by the technicians apparently. Thanks for that. After putting up with the rat in my chest for the last month ,all day and all night i am ready for anything anyway.. its a teaser also as i woke sunday morning and the rat was back. Whats the chances of him coming back. Well so far he always does
