I might be late to the party with this one, but I recently came across bartsaf.com which I have found to be the best resource (outside this group of course!) for all things AF related...most questions and concerns I've had since my ablation Ive been able to find answers for there

Thank you for posting this. I've just signed up!
I did not know about this site before and agree it is excellent. Wish I'd known about it earlier. Very well written . I havent heard it mentioned on this forum, unless I've missed it .
I'm particularly interested as I'm undergoing Epicardial/Endocardial ablation on Tuesday and this has been explained here very clearly , much more so than the basic explanation from the hospital .
Thanks for highlighting this. Definitely an interesting site.
Great resource, not late to the party at all! Well done.
Both my previous EPs were from the Bart’s team and great on research. I have them to thank for my and husband’s continuing NSR.
Brilliant- thank you Flutterby
THANK you - what a good site. Not only a good medical site but a research based one. Excellent! Subscribed.
Superb thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing, I didn't know about this site and I had my procedure done at Bart's. I wonder if it's been mentioned before and I've missed it, although I've been on this forum for 7yrs now 🤔
Thanks it is full of AF information
This site is research based & an excellent addition to our info sources. Thank you.
Thank you very much for the link to this great site.
Thank you so much, just had a quick look and subscribed, looks very informative. Barts team have been the ones to do my ablations, av node ablation and pacemaker but I didn’t know about this resource.
Thanks for this, have just signed up, on waiting list at Papworth for ablation. Quick initial flick through and read an article about selection criteria in 2024, which seems to turn my understanding of this on its head. Particularly following quote (it is bold text in the original) : However, a third ablation attempt will not be allowed.
I've read so much on this forum about repeated attempts of 3 or more, this seems to be a definitive change that should be made very common knowledge. Not heard of it on this forum. Am I misreading this?
Good morning Flutterby 100, I have just read your post and consequently looked on the bartsaf.com website and found it to be very informative, a lot of useful information, so many thanks for posting that.
Many thanks for highlighting this excellent resource. I just had a look at the article 'Ectopic heart beats after AF ablation'. Very interesting read. I noticed that they did not address having another ablation to target the ectopics. I wonder why.

When I first saw the message headline I thought it was going to link to The Simpsons.
Seriously, what a truly amazingly informative site, that also links to other extremely knowledgeable places.
One link (AF ablation outside the heart document) led to an American Heart Association article describing the anatomy of the heart with diagrams and pictures the likes of which I haven’t seen before. One statistic I read , that I was completely unaware of , is that the left atrial appendage is 3 times larger in patients with AF.
I was aware that the shape of the left atrial appendage plays an important part in AF and potential stroke creation, but this statistic was staggering.
Quote : A study of postmortem and explanted hearts revealed the atrial appendage from patients with atrial fibrillation to have 3 times the volume of those in sinus rhythm. AHA Circulation Arrhythmia and ElectroPhysiology Vol 5, no1 Left Atrial Anatomy revisited 2012.
Maybe I haven’t heard of this before because it is not an accepted fact by other cardiologists and ElectroPhysiologists.
