Multi Ablations?

Hello all,

Big cardio surgery history, last one 25 years ago, still here thanks to surgeons who were willing to take risks where others weren't! Developed AFib 5 years ago. Had a cryo, success for 2 years then a redo RF, success for 18 months but also had more cardio versions that you can shake a stick at & been through most of the main meds ( badly tolerated unfortunately). Current doc not wanting to do 3rd ablation, nor able to go Pulsed Field even if he was. Instead thinks it's time to settle into rate control. Would others please share experiences /thoughts? Am I overreaching wanting to push the envelope one more time?

Thanks & Best of luck to all & sundry.

Provided that rate is well controlled (and the patient anticoagulated where appropriate) there is no dfference in final outcome whatever treatment plan is in place. As we are told so often, any and all treatment is only for quality of life (QOL)

If you can get into an acceptable rate then why not ?

My husband is in permanent AF circa 80 bpm and completely unaware. I wish I could get into an acceptable rate when I go into an AF episode but sadly not. I appear to be refractory to drug treatment also. Consequently I've had 4 RF ablations and last week had my 26th DC Cardioversion. Now awaiting conversation with my EP for next step which I imagine will be pace/ablate unless he has any ideas for ablation no 5 🤔😬

Your attitude is inspiring.

Have you investigated Dr Wolf's minimaze procedure?

This can be done via his website or the Houston Methodist YouTube channel. Dr Wolf has also just restarted his monthly (first Tuesday of each month) live 1 hour Afib events on YouTube during which watchers can submit Afib questions.

Similar procedures are now available for selected patients in UK both privately and on the NHS.

Good luck in finding a way forward.
