I saw your post too late to comment but I would have said you should go on how you feel - the numbers aren’t important if you feel reasonably ok but if you don’t a health professional should be consulted.

My PAF was always more symptomatic and higher rates than usual with covid and other flu type infections and they triggered it every time. Also the only time I had repeat episodes flipping in and out a few times. Hopefully that won’t happen for you but just for info from my experience. Plenty of water and paracetamol I would recommend.

Best wishes

Most likely due to your body fighting infection but it can take a while to settle after an episode too I guess. Rest up, hopefully better soon.

Paracetamol is counterproductive. Raised temperature is one of the body's prime mechanisms for destroing viruses. Taking any temperature lowering drug will just prolong the length of time the virus can reproduce and multiply.

That is interesting. I never heard that before

Before antipyretics like aspirin and Paracetamol were produced all doctors knew that fever was to be encouraged for infections . Patients were heaped with blankets and there were even fever bonnets. Hot toddies were given to encourage sweating. I remember getting a toddy when I was a child if I was ill with a cold or the flu. Doctors might not have known the mechanism ( bugs being sensitive to temperature) but they knew what worked. It is thought that many patients died of the 1918 flu not because of the virus but because they were overdosed with aspirin that was a fairly new drug then.

Thank you. That is most interesting. When I was brought into hospital a couple of weeks ago I had a very high temperature from Flu and they gave me paracetamol!!

Standard practice now! I had a bad cold / cough before Christmas with very high temps during the cold phase. It put me into afib 3 times in 4 days and my last episode lasted 22hrs - unprecedented for me. In desperation I took some Paracetamol knowing that it was counterproductive for fighting the virus but also suspecting it was the fever that was bri nging on the afib. Between a rock and a hard place!

During the first few days in hospital I had three AFib’s but when the fever was brought down they stopped until the one I spoke about in my Double Whammy post.

I have had no fever for ten days now even with Covid. Still feel poorly though. Ah well could be worse !

Hope you get better soon. Try to rest. My virus ( covid test was negative ) left me very tired for a week after the vile cough had stopped.
