Had my third ablation 6 weeks ago.prior to this ablation was only having episodes when trying to stop meds. 51 YO athlete firefighter. Following third ablation i have short runs everyday particularly when sitting or lying down. Currently on Flecainide/metopralol. Max dose of flec. They now want to put me on Amio or ticosyn. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Have these "runs" been confirmed as afib by ekg? I ask because different arrhythmia's can act like afib, but their significance and treatment post ablation may be different.

After ablation I found I could get my heart back into normal rhythm using the vagal manoeuvre Look it up and give it a go. Also make sure they you're not doing shallow breathing when you sit or lay down.

Quick question, what is it about shallow breathing that might trigger AF? Curious

You won't be getting enough oxygen into your lungs, heart, blood and body in general. When oxygen totally stops coming into our bodies we die.

Posture was a trigger for me, eg, if after eating I sat down, often the Afib would kick in, not breathing deeply while exercising. Basically anything that caused upward compression to the vagus/heart would trigger my episodes. Not sitting directly after eating helped and sleeping on a slight incline helped as well. Best wishes for some relief!
