amiodarone

Was admitted via A&E to hospital last October with fast AF, 174 bpm., Sob, high bp. Because of other underlying problems with CKD, doc put me on Amiodarone 200mg daily, along with Nebivolol bi-daily, replacing Bisoprolol. Was discharged after 6 days when heart rate was consistently below 80bpm. Now, “fully loaded” with Amiodarone, my heart rate wants to drop even further but maintained at a steady 60bpm by my twin lead pacemaker, implanted in 2014. My problem is constant shortage of breath, slightest exertion creases me!

Comments please. Is this the medication , or is there something else we should be looking for?

I'm sorry you're going through this, it is my understanding that Bisoprol does make some people breathless and very tired. I don't know anything about your other meds. May be worth looking into that with your Cardiologist/EP or GP. Hope you get sorted

Just had my 3rd cardio which did not work but put on amidorone before my cardio so on them around just under 2 months. Even though I have gone back to afib the amidorone has reduced my bpm. It never goes over 85 and again around 58-62 bpm but I do not get out of breath so could be a combination of amidorone and your other meds. I am presuming b4 amidorone you did not get out of breath?? As Tropicaltarus said worth contating your cardiologist or go through your doctor 1st.

Hi Dindy.

I can sometimes get a little sob due to mild asthma, since childhood, but not as permanent as at present. I asked about Amiodarone ‘cos it’s the only thing that changed since I was admitted to hospital.

Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated
