I was fine with Apixaban but it is a nuisance having to take it twice daily. As a result, I changed to Edoxaban, which is taken only once.

Edoxaban is very effective and easy to manage. I wouldn’t want to go back to g to he previous medication.

As for Edoxaban's effectiveness, this German research does give positive results for Edoxaban over other DOACs and Warfarin.

Lowest risk results for strokes, and equal lowest risk results for major bleeding. (With the usual proviso there were no conflicts of interest by the authors)

Thanks for that. I switched to apixaban from rivaroxaban last year as a similar study suggested it was safer. It is twice a day, so I will be asking my GP about edoxaban when I see him next.

I would agree with you. I have only taken Edoxaban but no problems whatsoever so far . Take it first thing and forget about it

I was changed over to edoxoban from apixaban last year as happened to a lot of people due to cost. I was given one (text) chance to reply and said I didn’t want to. I’d had no problems and sometimes react to drugs so would prefer to stay as I was, twice a day makes no difference as I take flecainade twice a day already. I was told I was changing anyway as it’s better to only take one pill a day 🙄 they keep mentioning this at every opportunity.

Since then I had a bad cold lasting three weeks which then went into a sinus infection and I started to get nosebleeds every time I tried to blow my nose. Not bad ones but unpleasant as they were high up and often went into my mouth.

I’ve never had nosebleeds before ever, all the time I’ve been on warfarin and apixaban.

Also once had my daily pill strip that I decant my pills into the wrong way round when I took my morning pills ( I’ve honestly never done this before I really double check now! ) which meant I’d taken edoxoban far too early. My nose bled on and off all afternoon after this but only realised why when I took my evening pills and realised what I’d done. With twice a day apixaban this would not have mattered.

Also managed to forget my morning pills once last week, again only realised when I took my evening ones, I couldn’t take the edoxoban that late without messing up my routine so missed a day, wouldn’t have mattered with apixaban. I often go into afib overnight so was unhappy with this.

I spoke to my gp on the phone regarding the nosebleeds a fortnight ago and she was quite happy to change my Persciption back to apixaban though she said it might not make a difference to the nosebleeds now I’ve started getting them. Looking forward to going back on them when I get my next Persciption.

Went from Rivaroxaban to Apixaban then started to constantly forget to take afternoon doses. The move to Edoxaban has been a game changer in every way. Fingers crossed its doing its job as I can certainly say its taken without fail every day and has not caused any side effects 👍🏻
