As I've said before on here, I'd have another ablation any time. Everyone is very nervous about these things beforehand, it's only natural. The fact that you're first on the list is a great sign - they're expecting a straightforward job after which they'll be able to send you home quite quickly and free up a bed. I can't tell you not to be nervous, of course you will be. I can't tell you there won't be a bit of discomfort - there will be some. But nothing to be afraid of and I found it much less traumatic than, for example, a filling at the dentist.
So it's really not bad at all and you can be excited that come Monday afternoon you'll be all done!
Let us know how it went please.
Nothing to worry about. Just remember to read our recovery fact sheet and above all rest.
You will be happy when it’s all over but try and enjoy the attention, mine was five weeks ago now and I found it a really positive experience. These people are so professional and it’s just another day at the office for them. One in, one out, have a chat trolley to trolley as you pass each other. One of you might remember what you say to each other depending how much sedation you’ve had. If you do go down first you’ll probably be sitting up to eat your lunch. Good luck.
I was so worried about it beforehand but honestly it was so easy. We were talking about Xmas presents shopping during it. With the sedation time flies and before I knew it I was tucking into lunch and cuppa.
Good luck ,
I had an ablation, 16 weeks ago. I was terrified, but got through it ok. If I can do it, anyone can.!!! I was first one in, too. They looked after me very well. It’s human nature to be anxious about this, , but each of us who’ve gone through it,are still here to tell the tale. !! I’m still getting some missed beats, which, I have been assured by the helpful lot on here, is quite normal. This site is very good. I’ve been on here for a while now. Full of helpful advice and reassurance, so any questions or worries, don’t hesitate to ask. Good luck with your procedure.
I’ve had 4 ablations - 2 under GA and 2 sedated. As somebody said above, I’ve found it less traumatic than going to the dentist. If you knew me as a person, you would think “If she can do it, I certainly can”. I’m the biggest wuss with a genuine phobia about pain, blood and everything associated with hospitals.
During one where I was sedated, I had to miss seeing Elton John in concert and they played Elton John for me as I was having the ablation. Lovely, lovely people!
Rest and more rest. Best wishes🍀☘️

That’s encouraging, did you have any blips in the blanking period?
Do you expect to go on anticoagulant at 65 ?
I’m 5.5 weeks and had an episode on day 6 but ok since, if it holds until 3 month review there will be a discussion on coming off the meds.
Good luck🤞Had mine a couple of months ago and no issues so far👌
