Following on from my post about prescription of Lanzaprole picked them up yesterday and I've been prescribed 30mg TWICE a day ie 60mg.Looking at dosage on leaflet ( which I always browse briefly) maximum dosage is between 15 and 30mg daily.

Swift call to GPs,telecall Saturday ( not my own Dr but presumably not the caretaker or cleaner!)

So will use appointment to chase up points raised by you lovely lot.

Some great suggestions and support as ever here.

Thank you all everyone xx

That’s great you’ve got an appointment to discuss it.

I’m also very interested in everyone’s comments on possible continuing issues after gall bladder removal (as I’m due to have mine removed in the next few months). If it doesn’t resolve the problem I might rather wait til the current problem is bothering me badly!

When I had my gastric issues, I think I was on 30mg lansoprazole twice a day to begin with, then reduced down to once a day.

Do let us know what the cleaner/caretaker advises 😊 xx

Hi, I missed the original discussion I think but have some info - though perhaps unwelcome. My friend was having problems with abdominal pain and nausea, was found to have gallstones and had her gallbladder out (privately). Bad nausea continued. More tests revealed a hiatus hernia which she believes was caused by the gall bladder op, if I understood her correctly this is a known after effect though I can’t quite understand how one would know. Sorry if this is a repeat of others’ experience. Best wishes

Thank you Buffafly. Hope your friend get well soon. Mine was 10 years ago but never quite settled the gastric issues. Going to pursue it. Xx

That’s another thing to add to my list of questions for the gall bladder surgeon!! Thanks so much, Buffafly. It’s really good to know people’s experiences.

If you're astrology inclined, you don't want to encounter Mercury in Uranus. 😳

Indeed ,a most inauspicious lining of the planets!

Actually, Mercury in favourable alignment with Uranus is an indicator of potential genius!🤔

So quite a medical/astrological conundrum you've got there.😄

🤣🤣🤣. That's where I've been going wrong all these years. 😁

Mind you, I am in danger of breaking the Admin "rule" of "no self promotion allowed", as I have such a favourable alignment of those 2 planets in my chart and others (?) might be mislead into mistaking me for a "genius".

So shoosh!🤫🤐

60mg has been prescribed correctly, I would think, as the higher dose will more surely block the acid to show whether this is the cause of your problems. The drug is safe in that dosage, especially in the short term. Your doctor seems to know well what he or she is doing so I would trust them.

I don't get acid! No reflux no heartburn no indigestion. I am speaking to someone at tge surgery tomorrow so hopefully will find out more info. Thank you Steve

The acid will most certainly be there but what you mean is it’s not getting into your food pipe so you don’t notice it. Excess acid can still cause symptoms I gather just not the ones we usually associate, i.e. heartburn.

The PPI drugs (yours being lansoprazole) are very safe for short term use. I wouldn’t give this a moment’s thought and would press on as prescribed.

a lot of people are on ppis for years.

That’s true - I was on them non stop for about 9-10 years and I wasn’t aware of having any issues from taking them. I’m constantly aware I may need to go back on them.
