AF- how to get those “mush” legs to work?

Since the temperature dropped below double digits here I haven’t managed to leave the flat due to “mush legs” and breathlessness. This is all new territory for me.

Next week it’s supposed to be even colder here, sub-zero, but I have 3 cross-town medical appointments which I need to go to, while will involve a long walk to and from the bus stop each way . I also have to climb several flights of steep stairs at my dentist’s as they are in an old building without a lift. Getting a taxi to the appointments is not an option as with the distances involved it would be too expensive.

How do other people get their mush legs working to get to appointments?

I'd ring Age Concern and see if they know of any volunteering groups who will take you to your appointments. We have one in our area of Devon that's called Karing. I hate the way elderly or ill people are just left to get on with their shopping, appointments etc on their own, when they can hardly put one foot in front of the other.

Like Jean suggest you ring a local volunteer driver group - we have 2 in our area. You need to give them several weeks notice but they will take you, wait and take you home for a donation. I pay full price but that is still 20% of what a taxi both ways would cost.

As we are very rural and there are only 3 buses a day public transport is not an option.
