COVID

Doea anyone have any advice. I had my ablation in September and a nurse told me not to have a flu jab or covid booster. I am now stuck at home with Covid.

I am a little worried about it triggering AFib.

Did she explain why she gave you that advice?

Said not to introduce viruses as could trigger AFib. I didn’t check with the doctor

Neither flu nor covid jabs are live virus!

But they can bring on an AF attack Bob. I can vouch for that.

Not dissagreeing Jean just pointing out you can't catch things from these vaccines.

Can’t really advise you but I think what I would do is pay attention to hydration and try to keep the inflammation to a minimum with paracetamol.

I know a few people with COVID at the moment that had their boosters so you may have had it anyway.

I’ve refused my booster temporarily as it was too close to my procedure but the EP nurses would not commit to saying that was the correct advice.

I had my ablation a week ago today and have been really good since but I had an AF episode yesterday for about 16hrs and I have no idea what triggered it. Woke in NSR this morning. I know I’m in the blanking period but it still upset me.

I think we will all be worried that something will give you AF once you’ve had it. If only we could remove that anxiety then that may well be the “cure” we all crave.

Hope you get well soon

I have normal rhythm. I was just a bit worried about what the nurse said to me. He said that sometimes people catch flu or a virus and their arrhythmia returns.

I haven’t had any arrhythmia for about two months. It all settled down about a month post ablation. Just the odd ectopic beat but even those have stopped

Inflammation from a virus was almost a guaranteed trigger for me in the past so that information is correct I would say, whether having the booster would trigger AF is another opinion. I’ve heard of covid causing arrhythmias in people who don’t suffer with them normally. Try and look on the positive side, if you can avoid an episode with covid then that would be a good sign for your ablation evaluation. Good luck 🤞

My understanding is that the nurse has done you a favour in avoiding the aggravating risk as particularly the C-jab has a historically very high risk of heart problems.

Yes you have Covid now but the latest I heard was that these boosters are very temporary providing minimal extra protection in the first 3 months and thereafter less protection than those who haven't had it.

As you are probably aware there is increasing debate breaking out about the efficacy of all mRNA jabs. I personally won't be having any future vaccinations without much more research from sources not compromised by financial interest.
