Good Queen Jeannie once looked out
Just before Christmas Even
Heard loud heartbeats round about
Fast and very uneven.
Brightly shone the shops that night
And the crowds were frazzled
When an AFer came in sight
Carrying chocolate doughnuts.
Hither, page, and stand by me
If thou knows it telling
Yonder AFer who is he
Where and what his dwelling?
Sire he lives far down the road
Up above a chippy
Two doors off from Domino’s
And opposite McDonald’s.*
Bring me vegetables so fine
And ripe fruit all in season,
Thou and I will see him dine
All healthily this even.
Page and monarch forth they went
Forth they went together
Through the tired crowds rude lament
And the rainy weather.
Sire, this pumpkin weighs a ton
So does this green cabbage
If I’d known you’d buy so much
I’d have brought a trolley!
The AFer was very glad
And thanked them for their bounty,
My big pork pies will taste so good
With apples and a salad!
You can’t win ‘em all 😂
