Has anyone had problems with Metropolo?
I take Metoprolol 25mg twice daily and have no problems with it. A lot of people on this forum are singing the praises of another beta blocker Nebivolol. When I asked about taking it my cardiologist laughed and said that's not for you. I really wish now that I'd asked him why.

I have not been feeling good for a long time with some kind of dizzness and I got to thinking , maybe it is because I take 0.25 mg of xanax! Even though the doctor said I could take it when I am taking Metropolo, maybe that is why I feel lousy!
Apicaban gives me dizzy spells. I only take it during episodes. If I had to take it all the time I would be looking for alternatives.
An awful situation to be in and I don’t know the answer for you but I can share my experience ….. I started on 25mg a day (12.5 morning and night) with the intention of taking 25mg bd . I gave it a a month for side effects to settle but they became worse overtime (had been told by doctor that prescribed it that it was a low dose and I could just stop taking if side effects were problematic) It worked for me at that low dose resting heart rate was down but increasing side effects (dizziness, bad dreams, couldn’t be bothered doing much at all, and didn’t care that I couldn’t be bothered, stomach cramps increased in intensity, dry eyes, couldn’t catch my breath when I did exert myself… it sounds so obvious that I wasn’t suited to the drug but I was like a frog in hot water and didn’t recognise it till I felt unable to breathe after doing some housework - figured that the amount I was taking was not a small amount for me and cut back very slowly (York Cardiology has a utube video “How to Come Off Beta Blockers” I found very helpful but the process wasn’t without its challenges - It’s tedious finding the right medication - we’re all so different. BUT Please talk to your doctor- it’s a powerful drug
Yes, talk to your doctor as Glenlyon said in his/her excellent reply. Your experience also seems to match the results of the interactions checker on drugs com, thus ... drugs.com/drug-interactions...
Good luck.
Hi
Bisoprolol has been the better BB for AFers. It does not have such a side effect on breathing.
I was given Metoprolol after stroke in hospital. I said that I did not want it because on any exertion I was breathless and fatigued and the 24-hr heart monitor showed pauses whilst asleep.
Also my h/rate Day avge was 186!
Changed to Biso by finally seeing a H/Spec but H/R still uncontrolled with avge Day 156.
Followed a priv H/Specialist who introduced CCB Ditiazem. 180mg dropped me 105 heart beats minute within 2 hours of taking it.
In December 2021 twinked and separated CCB from BB.
Take Diltiazem 120mg AM for H/Rate (47avge Night bur Diltiazem works on H/R 12 hours) No food 1/2-1 hr.
Take 2.5mg Biso PM for BP.
Take PRADAXA 110mg x twice day.
Also on SYNTHROID early AM for Ca Throidectomy. 125mg Daily. No food 1 hr.
Sometimes it is how and when you take it.
As BP rises early AM blood pressure tabs are better at night.
