Hi Tracy, I have read the discussion guide and would like to make a comment. The guide does not make any mention to a condition a lot of AFibbers get which is hyper-urination, in fact any information available on line by anyone never seems to highlight this very annoying and at times socially embarrassing off shoot, along with being very inconvenient, especially at night. I had this long before I was diagnosed but it was never flagged up as being a recognisable symptom of AFib. My sister has also recently been diagnosed with AFib, asymptomatic and I was telling her about this and she commented that she also needs to urinate excessively on occasion, she had assumed it was her age. I have learnt from this forum what causes it, a release from the fibrillating atria of a hormone, natriuretic peptide, which causes your kidneys to dump sodium. This is beyond an individuals control and nothing to do with age or an overactive bladder. My GP didn't seem able to give an explanation as to why and this seems commonplace judging by the posts on your website. Why so many of us have to rely on a forum to advise and reassure us is a complete puzzle to me. I really feel it would be more than helpful that this symptom was highlighted along with the cause on any information guide.
Thank you for your feedback about the AF Discussion Guide, we try to ensure the advice provided is accurate along with the collaboration of working with the health care professionals to create our resources. I have taken on board your comments and will pass on the information ahead of the resource review early in the New Year.
Thank you Tracy so many of us have this problem and so little information is immediately available either online or from any medical professional. If it was flagged by yourselves in an information guide it would be of enormous help. Regards Kathleen
