Av node ablation destoys the heart's natural pacemaker so you need to have an electonic pacemaker fitted, working and tested at least six week prior to this procedure.

You will then become pacemaker dependent and your heart beat should be regular and controlled by the PM. It will NOT stop any AF which you may still be able to feel but your QOL should improve.

I already have a I.C.D FITTED after a cadiac arest in 2018. Was told they would run it of this . Would it be better to yry 1 more abberalation or go go staight ro av mode aberlation

I think that you would need to take the advice of your EP on this. I’ve they suggest that another ablation of the left atrium might do the trick then personally I would try that.

I’ve been told that another ablation is not likely to work for me, and that a pacemaker plus ablation of the AV node would be the only option - IF the rate can’t be controlled. At the moment the heart rate is fine.

If your first ablation lasted months, then a second one could well be a good option for you - but your EP will let you know.

The last 18 months have been great forgot how tired and ill af makes you feel . Its not as fast as it use to be just very aregular if u go for av mode abalation and u still get af how doseit make u feel any better . Ive not been right since i had my last covid jab about 4 weeks ago dont know if its coinstance but felt very tired and had a very bad cold lasting over 3 weeks then just went in to af at 9 pm 3 nights ago.

It makes you feel better because your ventricles beat regularly (set by the pacemaker) and your atria can do their thing on their own!
