Not a very large study but quite interesting if you have recently been diagnosed with AF whilst you have been ill or during a hospital stay

Interesting! Mine was diagnosed when taken into A n E with dehydration due to norovirus. I had just thought my palpitations were stress related ( probably a big factor)I wasnt sent home with any meds or a/c,just a referral to cardiology.

Hiya wilsond,

Mine also found when my GP sent me to A&E due to falling BP ( 136/80 ish down to 76/50 in a few hours). The difference being they put me under the care of Cardiac Consultant and kept me in Cardiac Ward for another 5 days for many tests. Sorted. But, that was back in the days of a healthy NHS !

The rub is .... I am still on the medication that Consultant originally prescribed. No PIP's , just take it all daily for life. Only two minor changes, originally prescribed to be taken in morning, changed to night.

More recently switched from Bisoprolol to Nebvivolol. I now regard myself as AF free.
