Opportunity to be involved in an AF study

We have been asked to assist with research into the experiences of AF patients who are currently taking anticoagulant medications (specifically warfarin and rivaroxaban).

The aim of this study is to gain a detailed insight into patient experiences when prescribed anticoagulation therapy for treatment of Atrial Fibrillation .We are interested to hear about all aspects of this experience, for example:

a.Is it easy or challenging to take the treatment?

b.What treatment side-effects have you experienced?

c.Do these side-effects have an impact on your life in general?

d.Overall, as a patient, how do you feel about anticoagulation treatment?

Currently, the research team are specifically interested in obtaining the views of female rivaroxaban participants. Therefore, if you happen to be a female with AF who is currently taking rivaroxaban, and might be interested in participating in a research study sharing your experiences please contact us via trudie@afa.org.uk We can liaise with the researchers and provide more information.

That will be interesting, I used to take Rivaroxaban but changed to Apixaban which I much prefer - didn’t realise certain side effects were attributable to Rivaroxaban until I stopped it. Will we get to see the results eventually?

Stopled taking Rivaroxaban about a long time ago because there was no antidote if you had a major bleed and I am male And went on Pradaxa as there is an antidote and you don’t have to take it with food

Hi I’ve been on Riveroxaban for 18 months haven’t had any problems but I’ve only got 1 kidney and don’t know what effect it has had as my Dr keeps putting off blood test so I’m really worried as don’t want to end up on dyalasis when by changing could be avoided just keep banging my head against a brick wall.

Thank you for all your responses, please, if you are interested, email trudie@afa.org.uk and say that you'd like to take part.

Kind regards

Rachel
