Post ablation comfort

Had my ablation Friday afternoon, 3 days ago in Exeter. All went well and I’m enjoying a comfortable rest.

No pains, no bleeding, gentle sedation that wears off quickly, just a few distant rumbles of AF/ectopic beats which is normal during blanking period. Great to have prepared so much beforehand and asked all of you AF friends the right questions. Thank goodness for AF Association!

The cardio team had to employ a special internal echocardiogram catheter (an ICE) to avoid disturbing previous scarring from hole in heart op 55 years ago.

I know this is all part of a process and I’m not expecting miracles but I’m not afraid to have further procedures if needed. Please don’t be afraid if you’ve been recommended the ablation route. And the Exeter team are tops 😀❤️

It's good to hear that all went well for you. Long may your heart stay in correct sinus rhythm.

How are you feeling?

Thanks Jean, I’m feeling very sleepy today - partly due to all the inactivity I think! But quite positive and no pain. My heart feels in rhythm but tells me to keep deep relaxing, practice slow mindful walking around the house and avoid anything that feels strenuous, which counts out most things! Luckily we’d prepared for this and have plenty in freezer and another grocery order coming tomorrow. Looking forward to being outdoors on some nice autumn walks. With or without AF!
