AF stages

Hi all. Been reading with interest about the various af experiences people have and wondered about the following: when I feel an episode begin I know that it will be with me for up to three days. Towards the end (except I don’t know it’s the end) it’s almost as if there is a final push where the rate rises to well above 100 (around 142) for a few minutes and then it goes back to nsr. I call it the last hurrah, except as I said I don’t know it at the time. Does anyone else experience this?

My symptoms are very different but v predictable:

First Tachycardia (per Kardia) @105-110, dropping to AF @ 80-85 and then back to NSR. Usually over a period of 6-20 hrs and resolved with a few doses of 100mg Flecainide. Occasionally episodes have last a few days.

Main trigger is HR> 140 during exercise. However, as I now control this, episodes these days are spontaneous with no predictability. Can be every few days to occasionally a gap of 10 days.

EP not sure that the Tachy is actually AF that becomes more regular as rate increases and so Kardia classifies as AF.

EP believes Pulmonary Vein initiated and so v suitable for ablation.

That is interesting. Mine is unpredictable and, luckily, or thanks to my now daily bisoprolol (1.25mg) an unusual event with the last being in March.

Interesting....sounds like the body in the absence of you raising your rate through exercise is taking matters into its own hands to regularise the situation.

Mine is completely unpredictable without triggers. I’ll wake up in fib/flutter, get it sorted, go for months to years in nsr, then wham back into fib/flutter. Fortunately I have a great team at Lovelace Heart in Albuquerque NM who are responsive and smart.

My HR seems like it's on a timer, 2 or 3 days, or more I'm afib free then all of a sudden goes into afib for 24 hrs. I can hardly believe it but many, many times I will note the time I went into afib and I am so amazed that exactly 24 hrs. from that time like clockwork it goes back into NSR. Really freaked me out at first but now comfortable with it as many times as it has happened. Have a GREAT DAY!
