Hi,

I had a problem when taking 10mg of bisoprolol, ok on smaller doses, I felt like something was blocking me urinating properly.

I did not make the connection with bisoprolol the first time it happened, probably as I had been on smaller doses for a long time, I went to the gp and she said it sounded like an infection.. I ended up having a bladder scan which didn’t show up anything.

My dose must have been lowered for another reason, I’m a bit woolly on the details it was a fair time ago but it did ease off eventually.

My dose was put up again about 4 years ago and this time I did make the connection, it came on gradually over about a fortnight, usual for me with drug reactions, until it felt unbearable, I started taking 7.5 mg tablets I already had in and it then eased off but took ages to go back to normal. Again usual for me with drug reactions.

My GP looks at me like I’m an idiot when I mention I get these reactions to drugs. She did put my dose back down though.

No, but if you are peri or post menopausal oestrogen deficiency is worth taking into consideration.

Very true - post menopausal oestrogen deficiency can disrupt a lot of things.

I had UTIs when I was put on rivaroxaban. Changed to apixaban and fine

There is a pill called Dapifloxine (can’t remember how to spell it at the moment) but this is a probable not a possible medication which gives UtIs

Hi. I haven’t as a result of meds but my Mum had Uti’s for about 20 years and was on antibiotics a lot of the time and still had them. Then we discovered D Mannose which is a supplement. For the last few years she has taken 3 a day and has not had one uti during that time. 😊

Yes D mannose has been useful for me too. I just don’t like the havoc that antibiotics create in your gut, so I avoid them when at all possible.

NOt my heart meds but I take a painkiller wh ich slows down digestion and if I'm not careful, my bladder doesn't empty fully each time. I have to sit down again and try to do more to be absolutely certain my bladder is completely empty or I would get infections.
