I have just been put on amlodopine for high blood pressure but it seems to make me feel nauseous and lightheaded, also my pulse races at times. Not good news for someone with AF.
I seem to spend a lot of time doing deep breathing to try to calm down. Does anyone else have these symptoms and will they go away? I am already on edoxaban.

Itook 2.5mg of Amlodopine and it did not agree with me. When I asked for it to be reduced to 1.25mg ...I also take a small dose of \furosimide with it...it was fine. But there are peole on this site that take 5 or even 10 mg. of Amlodopine so it can be down to your own body reaction and how it affects you individually.
I would go back to GP if l felt as you do. There are alternatives so don’t be fobbed off. I have had many problems with pill side effects and the Pharmacist at my local chemist said drugs should make you feel better. Hope you soon feel better.
I’m on 5 mg amlodopine since 2001. The most effective drug for me in controlling hereditary high blood pressure. On apixaban since 2019 no issues. I suspect as you adapt to the amlodopine your symptoms may improve, but the most important aspect is how well is it controlling your bp? Nb if your bp has gone too low then it could be the amlodopine controlling it too well!
I felt nauseous and headachy when I started amlodipine, this was many years ago. These side effects wore off after a few weeks and I have continued to take them. Give it a few weeks and if they don't agree with you, ask for an alternative.
Thanks Ascb. That’s very helpful. The nausea seems to have gone away, but still waking up with fast heartbeat. Thanks for all your replies, good to know there’s help out there.
