Bi Ventricular pacemaker and issues with RV lead after AV node ablation recently

Hello

I have had a pacemaker for 4 years. I had a AV node ablation just over a week ago

My problem is that I have some breathing issues

Went to hospital yesterday to try and sort it out. Issue is RV lead when it is turned on it sends small shocks through the heart area. Can’t cope with this constant shocks and will find it hard to cope with breathing issues. I am functioning ok however with having to keep stopping to get my breath it is making it difficult.

Consultant will contact me in next couple of days or so to discuss

Loads of tests done yesterday the pacing staff were brilliant

Has anyone had similar?

Thank you

not sure exactly - I had my LV lead detach which then fired my diaghragm which then caused difficultly breathing. It was like having incredibly strong hiccups so that couldn’t catch my breath, it became painful as well because of the violence of the contractions so I do empathize.

That wouldn’t happen though with your situation but could be the lead has dislodged?

Hope you don’t have to wait long for a solution- very uncomfortable for you.

Hi

The lead is not dislodged have full load of tests yesterday

Think sensitive to the lead and as I have multi heart issues it is complex

They have to get it right so just in hospitals hands

my husband had similar when he had a pacemaker last week. Like cdreamer the lower lead at the lower part of his heart was close to the diaphragm which made him have spasms where his whole body shook and round his stomach and sides were moving snd scarily visible. With his body shaking so much he was very breathless

The medics thought maybe that lead had come loose, but it was just the nearness. They turned that lead off and he has to go back on 10th august to see if the pacemaker is working sufficiently. If not I suppose he will have to have the operation again????

I do hope you feel better and medic help you soon as certainly I understand how you feel having seen the upset it caused my husband

Hello

I have had a good conversation with the pacing clinic who are excellent. They tell me what I knew already that I am sensitive to the RV lead, hence when it is turned on I get the tingling like shocks in heart.

It seems they thought 2 leads would be ok, but not having the third leaf working is causing me the breathing problems.

Seeing pacing clinic early August to lower pace rate from 80 beats and they were also try other things with frequencies etc but it may help a bit not completely.

It looks like they will have to reposition the RV lead, I am told that a new area of Right ventricle is being used very successful for this lead, which they will probably try.

I am waiting for call/appt with consultant but the procedure to reposition it won’t be for a few months so I am hopeful the pacing clinic can do their bit in August and obtain me some relief with this breathing problems
