good morning

Question. Is it safe to have G A when in permanent AF. Recently a registrar said oh that’s fine, but would rather have it front consultant, but can never get contact .

I had a hip replacement and went into AFib while still under. anaesthetic. No problem apparently as they dealt with it.It had gone by the time i came around. I understand it is a common occurance.

Not a major issue if the anaesthetist is happy.

I have permanent AF and had two ops last year both with GA. No problems. Medical team will go through all your details (and worries) when you have your pre op. You will be carefully monitored throughout.

I had my gallbladder removed whilst in permanent AF. Whilst recovering, they put a device on my lower calves which kicked in every few minutes to circulate the blood.

Hi

Is that why my feet moved in the warm bed! Experienced this as I awoke.

Hi

I understand it's fine but not if H/R over 100.

But I had 2 anaesthetists in theatre.

I’ve just had an ablation under GA and went into hospital that day in AF. Nobody batted an eyelid when I mentioned it.

I did wonder if it was a benefit to them that they could see the areas that needed ablating, rather than having to artificially trigger the heart into AF.

The consultant knew I may have an AF episode but was totally unconcerned, as was the anaesthetist. In the event I didn't!

Probably hijacking but am very interested in this thread, as I am due a spine operation in October, first time with a pacemaker and still AF. Has to be GA. I don't want any surprises at the pee assessment.
