Activity post ablation

Hello,

I just had my second RF ablation on May 31st. My original was an AF ablation on Jan 27th with a relatively difficult recovery with siginificant migraines (no previous history) and worsened arrhythmia. I ended up in rapid flutter and having to be emergently cardioverted and developed some pretty significant panic attacks post. Unfortunately I don’t tolerate antiarythmics well and either my BP or HR bottoms out or I get strange side effects. They blame it in my young age (38). They decided to treat my right sided flutter and then take a look back at the left side and my right pulmonary veins had apparently reconnected in some areas so they redid those and made. a secondary band in those areas so hopefully this won’t happen again. I have zero risk factors for the development of afib, no other health issues and I’m pretty sure I’m a case study at this point lol.

Anyways they have not given me much guidance with return to activity was basically told take it easy for 2 days, don’t lift more than 10 lbs for a week. Prior to my paroxysmal afib onset I was very active. I had to tone it down, especially cardio because it seemed to exacerbate my symptoms. I have taken 4 weeks off work this time as my recovery was so rocky earlier in the year. I am wanting to be extremely gradual in my recovery but also realize that my mental health is significantly improved when I am active. Looking for some guidance of what kind of activities to introduce when and for what duration.

Cheers!

I'm five weeks post afib ablation and just starting to ease back into my normal exercise routine. No matter how good you feel, remember that this is your one opportunity to make sure that you heal properly in order to give your ablation the best chance of success. Too much, too soon can undo all the work you and your ep have put into this. As far as "mental health" is concerned, look for alternative means now such as meditation, mindfulness, guided breathing and short, slow nature walks.

Hi. I hear you on the migraines as I had them for about 30 days after my ablation (first). My ablation was 46 days ago and I have back to working out. BUT. I did some upper body a few days ago and I think I pulled something in my chest as it hurt and that scared me thinking it had something to do with my heart. It didn't.

Take it easy but also try to be consistent and do something. I did a full body workout yesterday and the metics (I have a Tonal) said I did better than the previously time it prior to the ablation. But I took it slow, did some breathing exercises and took breaks during the workout.

Even activities I did easily prior I'm taking slowing. I went to the Farmers Market yesterday for the first time after ablation. Now, it was hot but I honestly come home exhausted and needed some R&R. I got an alert that my heart rate shot up to 122 from Cardiogram, but I was walking around the market in the heat so I wasn't concerned.
