Some people do better taking it at night. It also may take some weeks to get used to. If still problematic, ask about a trial with a different class of drug, Diltiazem. Does basically the same thing, but many including myself, found the side effects more tolerable. Lastly, do you even need the bisoprolol? Some do, but many don't in my opinion. I did fine without beta blockers for the first 30 years of my afib journey.

My cardio told me to take it at night so the lethargic effect wears off by morning. I currently take 7.5mg having been on 10 mg for over 30 years
hi,
We are all different. I was taking a small dose, 1.25mg, of Bisoprolol at night but found it gave me vivid and disturbing dreams. My cardio nurse suggested i take it in in the morning and that solved the problem.
Good luck
I always take my Bis at bedtime. It allows me more adrenaline during the day for exercise and a clearer head.
I have to take apixaban morning and evening, so I split the bisoprolol dose and take it at the same times.
how long u been on it?
I was started on this took it in morning. It made me feel so third gear instead of sixth gear , well if I was a car eh!….I’d start a walk in morzine and I’d feel tired leaded legs befire I even started…..I gave it three months…thrn saw cardio….he changed to 1.25 and saud actually as far as hearts concerned it would still do the trick…so thst suddenly was much better….ok I’m now in five gear…I doubt I will ever be top gear agsin as bisoprolol i think keeps pulse lower so why fight it, in fact I have good energy and bad energy but much better in lower dose.
I would say though I was told to give it a go to settle in and this tablet takes a while. It made my eyesight a bit fuzzy…..anyway bisoprolol isn’t instant settling in , but I’d ask fir a lower dose if it doesn’t suit…I guess u could try lower dose see how it goes with afib….van always go up agsin as this afib thing isn’t goung to kill us it’s just very annoying at times….l’best wishes

Hi
I take Diltiazem 120 mg AM and separate so 2.5 Bisoprolol at PM.
It works well as Biso keeps B/P low. Diltiazem keeps H/R low and both a great for rhythmn.

Hi, it took me months to acclimatise to bisoprolol, just like you it made me really tired all the time, prior to that I always had plenty of energy so it was very disheartening and debilitating. It got better after about 6 months and now after 3 years I still get very weary by 6pm, but during the day I am usually ok. Hope it gets better for you soon.
I also take 2.5 mg of biso at night. Initially I took it in the daytime but found it absolutely knocked me out. My cardiologist suggested I switch to a night dose and it made a world of difference. Good luck!!
