in oct 2017 I got 2 new heart valves

I’m doing very well.

I’m very thankful but sometimes I would like to read or hear about others that have to take warfarin

You might try asking that in British Heart Foundation forum as our primary function is atrial fibrillation. As it happens I have been on warafarin for 18 years or so since when I started my journey these modern drugs did not exists. I' have had zero issues other than slightly brittle nails.

I've taken Warfarin for more years than I can remember. The reason I take it is to prevent a blood clot forming and having a stroke. No one wants to take pills, but there are some than can literally save your life and anticoagulants such as Warfarin are one of them.

As Bob has said this is a forum for people who have atrial fibrillation (a faulty heart rate), but on the British Heart Forum many have had heart valves replaced. This is the link to their forum:

Bob says his nails are brittle, but mine are strong.

I have AF and a mechanical valve.I have been on warfarin since the valve was fitted about 18 months ago.

Apart from getting the correct dosage so my inr settled down I don't have any issues with it.

Hi. I had an aortic valve replacement in 1998 and have been on Warfarin ever since. Now have Atrial flutter and my INR fluctuates wildly after many stable years. I wonder if it may be due to the other meds I take? I need INR tests more or less weekly.

I was on Warfarin for about 4 years (since April 2021 have been on Apixaban) and overall did not find it a problem. I used to have regular INR monitoring at my GP, but eventually bought my own INR monitoring kit as it was more convenient and I was in control. Any problems I would contact the INR nurse at my GP.

Thanks for responding.

I was wondering if drinking kefir would make a difference in the INR
