migraine after ablation

I am 7 weeks out of my afib ablation. Having previously been a healthy 38 year old imagine my surprise at developing afib. Anyways had the ablation all seemed well and then developed wicked migraines with no history of ever having this. Fortunately they have become less intense but still occurring. At what point on time do I become concerned that this is my new normal?

I have had migraines for 4 decades. If they do continue post full recovery, I suggest looking into CGRP inhibitors such as Nurtec. Game changing drug.

I should add, first was debilitating for 3 days. This occurred on day 4 after ablation with severe headache, nausea and vomiting. I am able to work and mostly go about life now but usually will develop a headache at some point during the day. Went to ER initially but they were not concerned. My EP doc has suggested it will clear up but I’m not sure how long this hole is supposed to take to close

Not at all. If you read our facts sheet on recovery you will know that this is a common side effect. The cause is the transeptal puncture made when moving from right to left atrium. You are nfortunate in that you apparently experience the full blow pain etc as most people only normally get the aura. The general horror if they have not read our fact sheet is that they may be going blind or having a stroke which of course they are not.

Yours do seem to be extended but I really wouldn't worry about them. I had recurrences for a year or so having not had a proper migaine for odd twenty years.

I will include a link by edit.

I had horrible headaches in the days after my ablation, and a pretty high fever for a couple days. It slowly got better over the next week. I would have headaches if different strength as a relatively regular occurrence over the whole blanking period, but not as strong as the first few days Had a couple of ocular migraines for the first time in my life after the first month. As others have said, it's somewhat common apparently even though my docs didn't mention that...would have helped! I had bad headaches as a young kid but not as an adult so this sort of regular sporadic headaches coming in whenever is weird...but they did get better over time and less strong. I'm at 4 months post now and get them here and there but usually a couple Tylenol take care of it if needed.

No headaches after ablations. But having them now as my HR spikes from 70- 130 and back down. Horrible headache pain. Like a zinger and then dull pain. Finally settling down on latest drug atendol (after are trial and error on others)only can take 12.50 mg and still feel groggy.

This is different afib for me. Going for another ablation
