I’ve had no pain at all from pacemaker. Stiff and sore shoulder soft tissue across the upper chest. I’m sorry but I can’t see how the pacemaker could give you sore boobs, unless pulling on nerves. What do your doctors say?
I believe people find they have minor burns from cardioversion- similar to sunburn.
not the pacemaker giving me pain. It’s the OHS that has given me boob pain plus the cardioversion yesterday has. Feels like I’ve gone back to week 1 pain wise.
AVR and other bits by OHS 5 weeks ago but no sore boobs, just lots of widespread purple bruising and discolouration, mostly left sided from neck to hips, but not painful and still slowly fading. My left boob was like a purple beetroot but again not painful but I did have to have a pneumothorax drain put in when I was in ITU between my left ribs, high up nearly in the armpit and on its removal I had an arterial spurt so not surprising I suppose. Not sure what a normal level of bruising looks like but the nurse who took my drain stitches out at GP's surgery did comment that I had a lot of bruising. Most of my pain is in my shoulders, like frozen shoulder pain, back ache and some sternal discomfort of course. Haven't worn a bra at all since surgery - still wondering when to, but I seem to need some new ones as I've lost weight & size!
hi Cat I was told to wear a bra 24/7 for a month. I have no external bruising and a clean scar so I’m assuming I have a lot of internal bruising. Do u mean me asking how old u r. I’m 74 so was wondering if it’s an age thing too, longer to heal. I just can’t believe how much pain I have on the right boob which tbh I wld have thought I wld be more on the left boob. I’ve got big boobs have u? Maybe size is relevant. Bet men don’t have so many healing probs as they r flat chested. I don’t know x
I'll be 66 in May. I was in hosp for a week and no-one mentioned to me about wearing a bra even though they obviously were aware I wasn't wearing one! Only got small boobs though. My scar was superglued (is that the norm?) and has healed very well. I think men suffer from having shaved chests and hair regrowth from what I've heard!
I was in St Thomas’s London for 8 days. The booklet they gave when I left said to wear a bra 24/7. Also nurse told me. TBH cos I’ve got big boobs the bra has helped as when not wearing it I feel as tho it’s all being dragged down. I’m gobsmacked u were superglued tho. Guess as long as it’s all held together. Very odd that we both have differed so much in our after pain etc. does it hurt u to cough or sneeze? It’s a killer for me. Soooo painful, feel like I’m gonna split my sternum. X
My chest isn't really painful just feels a bit stiff. The hospital gave me a rolled up towel to support the sternum for coughing (or you could use a small cushion) and sneezing hasn't been painful.The sternotomy scar has healed a lot quicker, smoother and less red than the 3 drain holes scars and 2 neck lines scars which all still have lumps in them. The pacing wire wounds are OK though as they were smaller I suppose.

No pain when sneezing, just a bit cautious still when coughing as my sternum is a little tight still but not painful.My worst pain is in my shoulders, like frozen shoulder pain, and back pain but unsurprising really when we've been split open & cranked apart affecting all the muscles, ligaments & bones 😫
isn’t it odd how we’ve both had OHS but different after effects. My shoulders and back are fine. It’s just this awful pain in my boobs especially the right one. Guess all the muscles around the whole area are still trying to knit together etc. I’m beginning to wonder if I’ve got a bit of damage to a rib too. X
Have you tried a soft bra, like the gentle sports crop top ones. M&S have a pack of 3 on special at the moment for about £12.60. When I’ve had a cardioversion I feel like I’ve been kicked by a horse and also get sore burns, hydrocortisone cream works a treat on them.
