My heart rate is usually in 80s but often in 90s and will sometimes pop up to 130 or 140 but usually only for a very short time - less than a minute. Still, I never have any idea and only know because my wrist monitor tells me.

yes see what you mean

I was in hospital at 178 and new it but to peak at 180 average 130 over the day actually made me think have they got the devices muddled up as I never felt a thing

Hi,

In the case of my Heart Rate I never know it unless I look at my HR reading on my smartphone which records (among other things) my HR during a 24 hour period regardless of my activity and during the day it traditionally hovers around 64 to 73 bpm with spikes up to 119 or 130 or higher whatever - depending on my activity that I'm indulging in. But the high spikes I am never aware of as they are only momentary and I regard them as normal. Never ever aware of the 64 to 73 HR readings either.

I have a Garmin wristwatch Forerunner 35 tracker and that has an App on my smartphone which records everything my Garmin records including sleep.

hi John

I haven’t mentioned BP it may be just the way it reads it’s all HR

Thanks, just the way I read it. That said I've now deleted the confused bit and left the rest as my reply.

Yes. I could not tell I was in AFib . I only discovered I had afib because my Garmin HR monitor showed a high rate 165bpm, when I was sat down and not excercising. I initially thought the Garmin was broken, but an ECG proved otherwise.

I've always had a high heartrate with afib and always felt it. Being breathless is not normal, and if it's not because of pulmonary reasons, it's most likely cardiac. If you're, SOB, you need medical care.

During my first ever ever episode of AF, I felt dreadful, pale and sweaty with pain in my chest and back. My daughter took me straight to the doctor where AF was diagnosed, but not once was I aware of my heart beating very fast, although it was. Some episodes later I have become aware of them starting because my heart is thumping. I have had very unpleasant runs of ectopics and tachycardia where I have watched my clothes jump up and down with the force of each beat. So being aware totally depends on how hard my heart is beating, it sounds as if it is the same for you.

sometimes I feel it, but other times I have gotten an alert on my Garmin for high heart rate and don’t feel that. Usually they are short lived and I don’t get out of breath.

However, last week, I had some high excitement and then drama with bipolar neighbor that had my heart rate high for lengthy time. The next day I felt sickly and had terrible headache and had to rest to recuperate. That was the first time I felt that way and was fine the next day.
