We have just returned from our holiday in Chamonix and just want to tell you all that:
I DID IT!!!........ I went up to the top of the Aiguille Du Midi (3842 metres)!!!!....and it has done wonders for my confidence and living with AF. I was so very anxious about what might happen....only 60% oxygen........in fact I felt OK. I took it very slowly when we got out of the cable car, a bit breathless but no worse than the usual, certainly no pain, no palpitations but my heart certainly felt a little weird!! Our tour guide was also very encouraging and supportive, so must take some credit too!!
Stayed up there about an hour, the weather wonderful (0 degrees and sunny), and the views fantastic......
So........... a big 'thank you' to Ian, Bob, 10 Gingercats and everyone else on here who encouraged me to do it. Its probably the most adventurous thing I have ever done! Photos attached!!

Well done you, you certainly went onwards and upwards!!.
When we were there a couple of years ago I only went up on the little train as Mike (who had cancer) wasn't able to go up in the cable car. A fantastic sight looking up at the top of the col.
Well done - I am intrigued to know at what height your insurance runs out ( mine is at 3000 metres). I had a go at the grand balcon on mont blanc 2 tears ago in glorious weather, great walk at about 6000 feet - fantastic views., fairly level walk and a café and a chairlift at both ends
Don't know the answer to that Ianc2........interestingly, no one suggested I check beforehand!! If i can find the policy I will let you know.......glad you enjoyed your expereince too!
Congrats! I booked a vacation house in Colorado for Christmas vacation. That was in June, that I haven't had this afib crap. Since diagnosed in August, I've been in extreme level of anxiety and frustration, and been thinking if I should cancel the trip. It's about 900 miles drive from southern California to there. I don't want to disappoint the kids. But I don't want to be escorted by a helicopter or paramedic from the top of the mountain either.
