I've had this happen to me. I think you must ensure that you're not cutting out all food groups. Do not cut out all carbs as I believe this can precipitate arrhythmias.

A balanced diet is the answer and no crash dieting. (Slimming World plan is an excellent one. ) I believe it is also very helpful to leave as long a gap as you can ( within reason ) between your last meal ..or snack...at night and your breakfast or first meal of the following day. I think 14 hours is a recommended gap.

Good luck

Calorie controlled is a not a good way of eating as it does not take account of the type of food. 100 calories of chocolate are not the same nutritionally as 100 calories of egg! I have had afib starting after sugar drops. You need to make sure that the carbs you eat are more slow releasing even if you cut the amount. So no white bread , wholewheat pasta (if you can eat it- personally I think it's horrible!) and definitely no snacks that will spike your sugar then make it crash like cake or biscuits, cereal bars etc. Avoid commercial breakfast cereals and go for eggs with a single piece of wholemeal toast. Adequate amounts of protein with each meal are essential along with healthy fat. If you feel a sugar drop coming on a small snack of nuts or pumpkin seeds and dried fruit or a banana work well. I have stopped worrying about losing weight even though I am well overweight. I do not eat a lot and I eat healthily and I refuse to starve myself .

I think the elephant traps to avoid are going for low fat products and as Jalia says crash diets bad, intermittent fasting good for many issues. I spend a huge amount on buying the best quality food I can find, where possible direct from the farmer - surely the best investment you can make. Also regular brisk walking x2 per day, the first before breakfast.

I eat full fat & a little of everything. Practice 'breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and tea like a pauper'. Walk religiously every morning before break fast and again in the afternoon. I am now the same weight as I was at 18 and can no longer put weight on!

Hope something there helps.

I have not followed a specific diet but by adopting a mainly plant based regime with little in the way of refined sugars, I have been losing weight steadily.
