Sertraline Initial Side Effects

My boyfriend was on Zoloft 50mg when we met. Life was going good so he quit this past October. He decided a week and half ago to go back on it. He upped his dose in my opinion too quickly. He did 2 days of of 25 mg and then last Tuesday he jumped into 50mg. He slowly distanced himself from me and now has totally shut me out for two days. I have his location and see he is functioning and going to work but he wants nothing to do with me. This man even on and off the Zoloft loved me dearly and was so loving. This 180 degree behavior has totally taken a toll on me emotionally. I want to be strong for him but at the same time I’m not sure if this is permanent … will get better… he will go back to his loving self that he was. Can someone share their similar experiences and advice?

This forum is for people with atrial fibrillation ( a cadiac arrhythmia) so whatever sympathy there may be we are not the people to ask.

I think your being a bit hard on her Bob. I was given sertraline to lower my anxiety when Afib first hit. I ended up off the drug, as for some the side effects outweigh the benifits. Personally i am interested in all drugs and open to diccuss problems associated with those drugs. Afib is mental and physical, surely most would agree on that.

First post so like many people I expect she found HUL and posted on the first forum she found without realising that there were lots of sections. . Only trying to be helpful. It does happen a lot.

Sorry to hear you are both having a tough time. Perhaps you both need to contact your partners medic to see if the medication is causing added issues. Clearly you both need some professional input to try to support you. Best wishes for a more settled new year once you can get things sorted. Good luck moving forward.

I have no experience of Zoloft except through my cousin who found it very useful. I think the mood swings coming off it are well documented and can happen with all SSRI drugs.

You must feel truly awful over what has happened. No one can know how your boyfriend's feelings will settle, but they won't have settled yet. It's more important that you find someone to talk this through with face to face as that way you'll fond strength to cope I am sure. There will be local groups and your doctor's surgery will have details. Do please try these.

have you looked on Google to see if these side effects are common to this drug

I do hope things improve for you both. Is he willing to see you to talk and see a doctor??

All the best
