I suppose I could just be getting about upcoming Ablation but not sure who to talk to.The only consultation I have had with my EP was a 10 to 15 min telephone consultation after referral from Arrythmia Nurses. And all appointments with them were telephone. At no time has there been any mention of my having a fairly large hiatus hernia.I might have mentioned it before my CV. There is no mention of it iñ any of the letters from Arrythmia nurses or the EP.
Of course I have been consulting Dr Google and worry this could cause complications.
I don't know who to ask as only contact details I have are Arrythmia Nurses.
Do I need to make a point of bringing it up.
Please bear with me if you think I am being over anxious and advise please.

Joy is confused by the word hernia. Of course a hiatus hernia is in your diaphragm area and will not affect any entry points for the catheter. The only very very sight worry I would have is that very occasionally the process may cause a hicough but if you are under GA or heavily sedated I doubt this will be a problem. Do speak to the arrhythmia nurse and share you concern if only to calm you down.
Hi Bob I am not normally an anxious person but not feeling so great at the mo.What with that & the weather I am not getting as much excercise as normal .
I hope you have fully recovered from you spell of COVID.
The nurses should be able to answer your query or if they can't will ask the EP. If you can it may be better to call his secretary at the hospital and ask her to ask him/her.
I think that I would check with my GP, but only just in case. It’s completely normal to worry about everything to do with having an ablation. The number of things that I worried about was extraordinary.
So, I don’t know the answer to that particular thing, but I can say that the procedure was a lot less frightening than I expected it to be.
I was told not an issue by my EP. I strongly suspect I have an HH - most likely sliding, so pops out occasionally- but he said it wouldn't be a problem.
I too am awaiting ablation and have been told I have an hiatus hernia, but noth8ng has been said about any problems, I’ll wait until I get an actual date then contact Arrythmia nurse!
Hiatus hernias are quite common and won't, I feel sure, be of any consequence to an ablation. Truly large hernias can affect the heart directly by pressing against it and deforming it - but that is unusual indeed.
Hi, do mentiobn it to every medic you see, and make sure its on your records for future. I had open heart surgery and have had 3 ablations, none of medics thought it was a problem and it wasn't, but just safest to let people know.
