I had an ablation and cardioversion on 2 November and have done great and been in NSR for the last 7 weeks. Tonight I am out of NSR and wonder if this is normal? I felt a bit “fluttery” earlier and my BP machine (my only way to measure other than taking my pulse manually) is showing I am out of rythmn.
Currently I have a cold and a bad cough and the GP put me on antibiotics on Monday and am wondering if that is something to do with this change.
Is this a usual occurrence and is it to be expected in the blanking period? Am feeling disappointed right now but perhaps it’s ok and it could go back to NSR. Does anyone have any advice or past experience they could share to help me feel more positive right now?
thanks

Very early in recovery (see our fact sheet link below). Any infection in the body can bring on AF so doubt it is anything to do with antibiotics. Just conentrate on getting rid of your virus and I'm sure you willrevert soon.
Thank you Bob - reassuring words. It’s such a shock to realise you aren’t in NSR when you have been for a few weeks. Will keep reminding myself of your words of advice….
I only have arrythmias now when I have infection - whether or not I take antibiotics. I’m on my second course in a month (UTI + chest infection) and apart from the odd bump and raised HR - I’ve had nothing. Everyone responds very differently though and it will depend upon the antibiotic.
I went into AF / flutter for 3 days 6 weeks after ablation. It is now 4 and half months later and I have had nothing since. I was devastated at the time but it turns out that zBob was right AGAIN! X
