Most hospitals want you to travel with a companion post procedure and ideally NOT on public transport. More in case you have a bleed from the access port than any infection. I agree Covid is still around and always will be so do you usual thing. I will attach a link to two fact sheets you should carefully read and understand about preparing for and recovering from ablation.
After an ablation I would certainly try to keep away from using public transport.
You are going to need at least two weeks off of work afterwards. The first week is a rest one and then the second you can gently do some short walks and see how you get on. After my first two ablations recuperation was a long time, but fortunately I had what was mostly a desk job. After the third I felt better immediately, but still took life slowly. Covid wasn't around then, but I can't think it will help your heart to heal if you start coughing or sneezing excessively.
Let us know how your ablation goes please and good luck.
All I would say is that you really can’t avoid these bugs, unless you go back into sheltering and that is no good for your mental health so it’s about balance. I think it sensible to take reasonable precautions ie: I wear mask and gloves in any crowded spaces nowadays, avoid touching your face/mask, carry anti bacterial wipes/gel and avoid busy times.
I’d say straight after you need to take it easy and you don’t want the burden of extra germs. It takes a while to get over, but we’re all diferent. Think COVID’s here to stay, luck of the draw who gets it, but I think once u have the ablation you will see you have to pace yourself and I think you won’t be leaping on a bus for a while.
Good luck, hope it works for you Charles, I’m a fan of ablation it helped me have peace of mind,
I actually isolated for a week before as I’m asthmatic also. If you have to go out I dpesonally would take mask, hand sanitiser etc but you may young fit healthy in general.
I’ve come back and still enforced isolation as having a severe asthma episode which may just be attributed to the anaesthetic and tubes but when I get like this it’s usually weeks before I’m right so it’s really how you feel and know about yourself in my opinion - hope all goes ok
I’m planning to avoid people for a bit over a week before, really don’t want it cancelled - even for any kind of bug. Hoping to hear a few more good news ablation stories on here, as recently there have been a few too many naysayers, along with more conspiracy type things about a certain vaccine being shared.
I do know that I would like to be able to walk uphill again!
