Thank you to everyone who replied to my post on A Fib. I had an ultra sound test yesterday, which confirmed both atrium are slightly enlarged, and I am wearing an ecg monitor (diff sort to the ones I have worn previously) for 3 days. I now wait for my meetings with the senior cardiology nurse (end Nov) and the cardiologist/electrophysiologist (beg Dec.) I take on board the advice given particularly that on amiodorone and ablation. I realise that my uncontrolled A Fib needs to be dealt with, before it affects my heart further, but wish it was much simpler to do this. Up until now I have not been too bothered - ignorance is bliss - because I did not realise it could affect my heart in this way. Seems rather foolish but it is what it is. Thanks once again for all the advice.

Hi Hilianna.
An enlarged atrium is quite common with afib. It wouldn't surprise me if a majority of forum members have this - myself included. I asked my cardio about it and if it would in affect my life span in anyway - his reply was no. For sure your afib needs to be kept under control but at least you are aware of the problem. When I was first told it was a shock but after looking into it I am no longer worried about the matter.
Hope that helps.
