returning to NSR after six days
When I was on dronedarone, I had a 7.5 day and an 8 day episode. After coming off it, and using Bisoprolol, I had episodes of just two days a couple of times.
Sadly the ‘pill in the pocket’ of Flecainide and Bisoprolol that I then tried, has not worked out well for me. Have been stuck in A Fib for three weeks now, and feel that it’s now unlikely to revert without help. Luckily I have an ablation soon.
It all seems to have moved to persistent very quickly.
Hi, in the beginning of my AF saga yes. But gradually got too frequent too long( despite significant life changes, and various anti AF techniques)and had Flecanide as a PIP dose( pill in pocket for response to episodes).worked quite well for a decent time.Might be time to think about the above, ask your consultant for a review?
I'm a long time sufferer of AF. and keep records of every event. Each year the duration gets longer (2022 YTD average 8.2 days) and intervals in NSR shorten (2022 YTD average 6.9 days) . The number of days varies greatly but with all my events I eventually self revert, even when I had Covid when my AF that lasted 19 days.
I tolerate AF quite well now, I simply try to carry on as normal a life as possible, keep taking my beta-blockers and anticoagulants.
Hope that helps.
thank you so much for your replies. At the weekend I saw a private consultant because of chest pain and other problems and because my gp have been mismanaging my confidant resulting in a misdiagnosis last month from local heart hub of a worsening aortic stenosis. Because drs had not got me under a cardiologist despite repeated requests for referrals and me basically having to request my review every couple of years.
I spent last Tuesday night in A&E because I had woken with bad pain and in fast afib. Ambulance came in 10mins and decided I need to go in. The dr at hospital couldn’t believe that I wasn’t under cardiologist not least because I have a congenital valve issue and am now 64. She did a referral but I was so stressed about situation I decided to look up the consultants at the hospital and book a private appointment just to see where I am on aortic stenosis. I’m quite prepared for needing surgery when time comes but the guy who did my echo was awful and really upset me.
I managed to give consultant my last two echos and was so surprised and relieved when he disagreed with the diagnosis and said my stenosis is in his option still mild. He has now put me on his list at the hospital for nhs treatment and I’ll get annual reviews from his team.
Feeling pretty tired after six days in afib I decided to have one more try at a technique that I read about on this forum last year and worked once before. Basically found you tube video of heart beat and played it with phone tucked under boob and left it playing for twenty minutes, I gave up as I though it hadn’t helped but within two minutes I was back in NSR. So relieved as so tired and sore. It could be a coincidence but am just thankful.
Now I have consultant I will ask about pill in pocket as bisoprolol brings rate down but otherwise no help. Waiting for an appointment for a CTangiogram re heart pain but consultant did wonder if that was stress because of misdiagnosis and problems with gp.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Hope you all get the treatment you need,
Hi
Sounds like the crisis of burden on your heart has ended.
I have been told that mine may return as my thyroid cancer has been removed.
But miracles can happen.
