Holiday Tips Please

Hi all, I'm going to Tenerife from Manchester airport in the new year, I just wanted to ask a couple of questions if anyone can help....

Can I take my medication on the plane?

Is there a 'best' company to take out travel insurance with baring in mind a history of heart problems.

Any other advice? Not been abroad for a few years so a bit out of touch....

Thanks

we’re off to Tenerife in February. I usually put a few days worth of tablets in my hand luggage and the rest in the hold. I also take a copy of my prescription so that I can prove I’m entitled to them.

Sorry can’t help with travel insurance but I’m sure someone can

Always take your medication in hand luggage - in case baggage gets lost. Best in original containers with chemist label attached, your name etc. Also bring list of medicines that comes attached to prescription.

my insurance is with SAGA and we're happy with it. Yes, you can take your meds. Keep them in their blister packs or packets. Put them in a clear plastic bag same as your toiletries. I did a little list and put the packet lids on the list because I was travelling Ryanair and hand luggage only. Take your most recent prescription notes with you and put in the plastic bag too. I just wave the bag at the operator when going through security saying 'essential medication'. I even got my pill cutter through without a blink!

Hi djb.

I've never had any problems taking med's abroad when traveling. Follow the advice above and you'll be fine. Many countries allow a max of 3 months supply. I would suggest you take at least a few day's extra in case of flight delays etc. I'll put a link below that maybe of use for future travel.

Have a great holiday and soak up some sun for me ;-)

make sure you have all of your medication‘s in their bottles clearly marked. It might not hurt if your doctor could write up a little letter as well just because of the drug situation out there and once you are out of your country who knows how others might treat the situation.
