I can only speak for myself - it was 3 weeks before I started to feel better and 6 months before anything like back to normal. Others don’t even know they have it so everyone’s journey is very different.

Hope you improve soon. Try sipping plain, hot water for the nausea.

Warm water with a sprinkle ginger powder for the nausea. Works a treat!

Two to three weeks at best I would say. I started 5th October and still struggling.

So sorry to hear you are still struggling Bob. C is such a ……………….but eventually everyone that I know has shaken it off including a dear friend who had long covid. Am due for my 5th jab today and am dreading it cos I always have a dreadful reaction but better than getting the dreaded. Good luck.

The acupressure points for nausea are two fingers in from inner wrists in the centre and press up and in under rib cage both sides off centre. You can even get bands with a stud in the right place for wrists. Wilsond is quite right ginger and peppermint good. Nibble ginger biscuits. Also burnt toast (charcoal).

I have not had IT but sons and families have. They said it was 10 days roughly on average before turned the corner. One person took longer. Its so variable.I hope you have some kind of support for essentials and contact?

Fingers crossed fir recovery soon. I like ginger in warm water for nausea.

sorry to hear you are having to suffer this alone. My husband and I both have Covid differently. He had very high temp for 2 days then ok apart from a slight cough. I was ok for first 2days but since I have had every symptom there is to have. It’s only day 6 and feels like it’s going on for ever. My worst symptoms have been a terribly sore throat and feeling like I have glass in my windpipe. Now I have a rattling cough and have completely lost my voice. Thankfully the lungs don’t seem to be involved yet! I’ve had a temperature, nausea, brain fog, some very low level AF ( which my nurse tells me not to worry about so I won’t 🤞) I’ve had an itchy rash and a blocked nose not to mention extreme tiredness if I do anything other than potter. I do at least have company but my husband is recovering nicely which is rubbing my nose in it. He usually has Man flu and Man-cold so this is a turn up for the books indeed.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

Hi Tudee.

Sorry to hear this. It will pass but the time seems to vary from person to person. Many of my friends have had it - for one it lasted just 5 day's and then he tested negative. for others it took a few weeks.

I wonder if a friend or neighbour could pick up some shopping for you if you call them ? You could also order online - just pay by card and ask them to leave it on the doorstep. I think you will see a gradual improvement - who's knows but it could be the peak today and tomorrow you start to feel better. It might also be worth calling the doctor to see if they can prescribe something for the nausea. Your pharmacy will have a delivery service and could post it through the letter box.

Hope you feel better soon.

Paul

Many thanks Paul, all positive suggestions. ..oh that the world worked so smoothly...always look on the bright side...... I know from experience that I am on my own, ....£40 minimum online shop when you just want a can of soup. G.Ps calls only at 8am daily triage (Fastest finger first)that day and then if lucky, 72 hours for a prescription. These are the times we live in.

Lupaal profile image
Lupaal in reply to Tudee

order £40 worth of shopping that will keep eg tins or freezer items, then you will have plenty of food for when you start to feel better, can also put some treats on the order, like a new book, magazine etc to make up the money.

you are really having a difficult time, and I am so sorry, I could put up with anything if I had my husband by my side. I feel the isolation most, ..just a brother living in supported housing.. tomorrow I shall have to don my diving suit to protect others and waddle off to the nearest shop. God helps those who help themselves Im told. Thanks to all for responses

sorry you are feeling so rough and really hope you turn the corner soon. It is difficult when you live on your own. I am lucky and have very good neighbours who would get me bits of shopping if I asked. Do you not have a neighbour who could maybe get you some soup, milk etc? Also places like Age U.K., British Red Cross, WRVS etc have volunteers who will shop for isolated/housebound people at times like this. Or even your local church might have a good neighbour scheme who will help? Maybe give them a call. They can only say no. I do hope you begin to feel better soon. x

Hi Tudee, I’m sorry I can’t help over the covid question, but I just wanted to send some support and best wishes. Being ill when you’re living alone and feeling isolated is just rotten. Really hope you feel better soon. Sending love, Jane x

Hi Tudee. You must ask your doctor first, but my wife took just 2.5mg of Prednisolone for a few days and got better. Might be a coincidence and a medical professional should advise you.

we haven’t had COVID yet, but like you we are alone. I have just had back surgery and my husband needs a new hip. None of our neighbours have offered help. We have no family. Age UK never got back to me. How do you cope, and I really do hope you will soon feel well.

GrannyE profile image
GrannyE in reply to waterlady

Golly. Not a happy situation. My elderly husband has just had a ball put on the top of his femur but that is getting better slowly so I can empathise to a certain extent but we are lucky to have support. I have ordered everything on line since the start of covid. It works well.

This sounds rough and it's rougher still being alone! Apparently this latest variant is quite unpleasant. At least the GP is calling to check on progress but it's no help with practical comforts is it. Are you taking high vitamins D with K2? This is supposed to help with seeing it off. You can order online. Quite a few of us take it in the Winter months.

Don’t know where about you live, but doesn't your community have a local help scheme. We live in a village and during covid the community set up a help each other contact. So that people could ring or email the contact who would email all the volunteers on the list and ask if anyone could help with what ever it was, often it was a bit of shopping but not exclusively. It has been continued due to a small need. Today is my first day testing negative for covid 7 days after my first positive, but everyone seems different. Hope you recover soon.

Oh I'm sorry. I know how you feel. Both my husband and I have it. Mine started Monday/Tuesday and his Thursday. He doesn't seem quite so bad, but I feel dreadful. Like you I wish it would go away, crashing headache, terrible throat, flem cough, painful kidneys, weak and tired, even my teeth and roof of my mouth hurt and sore.

I do hope you feel better soon and I hope someone is nearby who can, from the other side of the door, give you help. I wish I could help you.

Best wishes

So sorry you are feeling so rough and I know how hard it is when you live on your own. You can get a Morrisons delivery through Amazon and I think the minimum is only £20. I have used it sometimes. Of course I guess it depends if you have a Morrisons anywhere in the area.

i know of a number of people who took ivermectin and were as right as rain on 2nd day, and no long lasting effects.

Auriculaire profile image
Auriculaire in reply to Tomred

In the absence of Ivermectin , zinc combined with quercetin, high strength liposomal vit C and n acetyl cysteine would probably help. I have got some Ivermectin in the cupboard for use if we get infected but only enough for one of us! Problem is it runs out of date in Dec . Contemplating taking it as prophylactic so as not to waste it. It cost an arm and a leg!

Tomred profile image
Tomred in reply to Auriculaire

got ivermectin pretty cheap here in ireland , im talking the paste version, apparently black seed oil is an alternative going by some sources, and all you mentioned above plus vitamin d.

Auriculaire profile image
Auriculaire in reply to Tomred

Once you actually have covid it is a bit late for the vit D as it takes some time for the cholecalciferol to be changed by the liver to calcifediol. In trials in hospitals in Cordoba and Barcelona high dose calcifediol was shown to work really well in hospitalised covid patients. Here in France there has been a large clinical trial including several hospitals with cholecalciferol but in high doses - 50,000 iu and 200,000iu loading doses were used. The larger dose worked better. But starting to take 1000iu or 2000iu would have very little impact. The Ivermectin I bought is for humans.

Tomred profile image
Tomred in reply to Auriculaire

yes human version is very expensive, but animal version worked for myself and others, it was slightly daunting taking it but no ill effects , thats interesting on the vitamin d trials.

so sorry you're alone with this. I know what that can be like as I'm in similar situation- it's really tough when we're unwell.. Keeping warm, resting and staying well hydrated are essential. Remember our bodies have remarkable resilience - do not despair, you will feel better.

With regards to online shopping I have been known to order something or things expensive to make up to the minimum spend, and then send them back with the driver! Maybe naughty but totally allowed!

My surgery has an online consultation form- its tedious but may be way to get to speak to a GP.

Wishing you well very very soon. You have a lot of support on this forum

Virus take a long time to shove off. I've just had a cold, cough and it turned into a chest infection that required antibiotics. Never tested positive for Covid although the symptoms were similar. It's been 5 weeks now and I still feel rubbish most days. We forget how low these things can drag us.

I had bad case of Covid. Vomiting nausea fever terrible sore throat lost sense of taste and smell a bloody nose that would not stop had to go to emerge to get it stopped and finally pink eye. This is over three weeks I still have a little taste or smell get bouts of nausea feeling and fatigue.

Tudee, I began feeling better at day 10, had one day relapse, and saw marked improvement that continued from day 12 forward. Three weeks later was back to my old self, but with some lingering post-Covid effects for 3 months after. What helped, I think, was drinking lots of water and getting lots of rest. I hope you improve soon, and I wish you well.

Hope you start to feel better soon. I find one or two lumps of crystallised ginger works really well for nausea and is easier than brewing up the root for tea. Combined with a honey and lemon drink. If you get a chesty cough try NAC n acetyl cysteine. It really helps to break up mucous and also is an immune system booster.

I can't explain what this is because cotton-pickin covid does different things to different people. And its possible that whatever you're taking is making you nauseated. They treated me, both times, with a very strong anti-biotic and a steroid. The steroid messed with my blood sugars something horrid! And after day five, I had increased nausea, the runs, etc. So call your doc and look up online the side effects of what you're taking. I hope you get better soon! I know how rough it is not to get out and do things. Stay in touch online with people! If you don't have facebook, check with people on here. and find ours! this is mine: facebook.com/Memaw4Christ

I'm thousands of miles away ( i think you call it over the pond!) but am sending you positive vibes to feel better real soon ! Make sure you stay hydrated and hopefully tomorrow you will turn the corner. I had a break through case back in April which took about 4-5 days to start feeling better, but everyone reacts differently. I heard today about a friend who had such a mild case they only checked b/c of a sore throat and they were in their 70's!!!

Feel better soon!
