I have/had PAF and had been taking Sotalol 120 2x daily, Diltiazem 120 1x and Eliquis before my ablation which occurred in January 2022. Since I had no further occurrences of Afib, my EP reduced the Sotalol to 80 2x in April. During my follow up visit with my EP this week he discontinued the Sotalol. FYI - each of these changes were done in consultation with me, the patient. Its only been a few days but so far its fine. The only thing I notice is an increase in my heart rate, especially when I exercise (I do a brisk walk 2.5 miles for 45 minutes). While on Sotalol my heart rate averaged around 80-85 BPM during the walk. Now it averages around 95-100.

Does anyone have any observations that you can share from personal experience related to being taken completely off Sotalol after ablation?

Solatol is a beta blocker. Mostly Beta blockers are applied for rate control in AF (reducing the heart rate) I would be surprised if the heart rate would not go up after discontinue the BB.
