echo results E and A waves and E/A ratio

can anyone assist with my query. Had recent echo and E wave 0.7 and A wave 0.2. Both of these are in the normal range. The strange thing is that while both are in the normal range the E/A ratio that these figures produce is 3.5 which is considered high as far as I can discern. It seems counter intuitive to me as surely if the E and A waves are in the right range you might expect their ratio to be in the right range as well? Any thoughts?

When you say echo, do you mean an echo cardiogram or as I suspect an echo of your carotid/jugular system which is outside the scope of most people here.

Thanks Bobd for taking the trouble to reply. It was a normal six month echo cardiogram. The E/A question is in fact a side show to my main issue which is that the ascending aortic aneurysm is now 5.2 which with a bicuspid valve means that in consultation with my local cardiologist I am being referred to a thorassic surgeon. But the E/A issue I just find interesting as it’s counter intuitive to me but what do I know!
