Heat wave heart wave?

Just out of curiosity.... has anyone noticed an increase in ectopics, heart wobbles or AF during this mini heat wave?

I've been fighting off some serious wobbles...just wondering if it's the sudden increase in temps or maybe just a coincidence...

What heat wave? All normal down yere in Devon apart from actually seeing the sun today. . Drink more water. Min 2 litres on a warm day.

It may be just me thinking it's a heat wave! I've noticed it more because our heating has broken and I was ruddy freezing all last week... going to bed with me hat and scarf on :o) then we have 24c today...

I’m with you, Wendywu! It’s like a heatwave (to me at least) here in Hertfordshire today (27 degrees) - and I’ve had ectopics and flutters like I haven’t had for ages. I was just saying to my husband that I wondered if the change of temperature was behind it. I do think I need to compensate better by drinking more water, as Bob so wisely says.

I get extremely hot every night and find my heart racing. I think it is metabolism but it’s pretty grim. Anyone else? . I too get ectopic in the heat. I adore the sun and chase it when I can.

I find my heart races at night if I am too hot, so use blankets rather than a duvet, as it is easier to adjust the layers. Cotton nightwear and sheets help (artificial fibres eg polyester, make the heat worse). I have a memory-foam mattress which is known to make one too hot. When we change it next we will definitely be buying something different!

Body temperature is regulated by Autonomic system so I can see a very direct link to heart rate function. I do think the sudden change of temperatures messes with our heart.

My heart felt very wibbly wobbly yesterday, nothing definite though. I also notice I am far more symptomatic generally in spring and Autumn - autumn is usually a lot worse.

Hello Wendy Wu. I have to agree with you. The temperatures in London yesterday were high twenties which set me off. A mixture of breathing difficulties and overheating! Not helped by anxiety caused trying to get out of London after a concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

I definitely have more ectopics, palpitations and even hot flushes during the night and had to completely reorganise my bedding so that now I only have a sheet with a 4tog duvet which is light but I find the sheet is enough in the heat. I also find putting an arm outside of the sheet helps to cool and slow down the palpitations. I keep water beside the bed as it feels as if my mouth has been sucked dry by that thing at the dentist when I have an episode! Getting out of bed for a couple of minutes also helps. I've just had an Amulet device fitted 4wks ago but I had night time ectopics etc before that and noticed that when I'm on holiday and there's air con I sleep much better!

I think it makes the blood thicker,especially if we get dehydrayted.My late mum had AF and heart failure,always suffered during heat,and indeed died of a huge stroke after a heat wave in 2013(34 degrees)

I definitely agree that the warmer the weather the more likely I am to have the odd beats start....and I ALWAYS carry water as drinking cold water the minute I feel the flutters start can sometimes stop an episode in it's track, not always but sometimes. I look forward to the warmer weather but worry because I know what it means to my AF situation.

Started AF same time as you last night. We are away at Henley on Thames in our Motorhome and was dreaming someone was rocking the van violently! Then I woke up and it was Flecainide o’clock!!

Mine seems to go through calm periods and bad patches regardless of the weather.

Yes, my heart was very wobbly today, but not in AFib, as I caught a train home after a family visit. The first train was cancelled, but we were not told, the information boards were not working (adding to the stress at a station I did not know!), and I had a small but heavy suitcase to wheel around and up steps (a very kind lady helped me!) to a different platform. I then find myself in a train with no air conditioning, windows closed (all seemed to be un-openable) and crowded with people (a Saturday) and a very hot day, getting humid, and then we had a downpour of rain in the evening, as my train arrived at my destination! I had to walk in the rain to my home, ten minutes - to add to the stress of the journey from London. I am glad I had my bottle of water as it seemed to keep AFib at bay, and the second train I had to catch, had air conditioning, thank goodness. It is scary going by train in hot (and cold!) weather when you suffer from AFib and a wobbly heart!!!

I have my remote for air conditioner next to my pillow. Was always cold intolerant as in reynaud syndrome but since SVT become limp, weak, faint in heat and humidity makes me dizzy. Always have a few cups of water by me but if I go outside.......it's humid in NYC.
