Does anyone have information for France doctors and hospitals .. for ablation?

Hi everyone

Hope you’re all doing well..

I woke up today feeling “sub-par” today and decided I should consider Paris for ablation (thank you to all who suggested it…)

A lady from Vancouver once gave me her doctors name but I can’t find it now…

Anyone?

There is at least a one year wait list here (and I really should have had it done 2 years ago)…

Thanks so much in advance!

Why paris?Surely there are plenty of good private docs. in the uk who would do it sooner rather than later?Royal Brompton ,Liverpool .Harefield .

I could be wrong but the prime centre for AF is surely Bordeaux not Paris.

Not you Chrissy, your doing fine, that comment was directed at BobD, he knows that Bordeaux is considered as the centre of excellence probably in Europe and I think the head honchos is Prof Michel Haissaguerre, hopefully Bob will confirm that!

I didnt know this. We have a house just 1hr.30mins drive from there. I'd heard about a hospital in Angouleme which had a good reputation for cardiology but not about Bordeaux being so prominent in the treatment for AF. I'm going to look into this., thanks.

Yip, I looked at Bordeaux institute , they invented catheter ablation and have been at the forefront of farapulse. A catheter ablation there including hospital stay is about €20,000.

Thank you - that means a lot more USD .. and even more CDN $ I was hoping it was only $20K USD ..I need PVI ablation …

At today’s exchange rate that’s US$20,000.

Your quote could be less,, I was long term persistent. They are use to private pay patients so they are worth contacting.

Shame you don’t have private access in Canada as it’s a long way to travel.

I also spoke to this private clinic, prof schilling who has a good reputation, they are in London.

Bordeaux are the leaders though if you are travelling to Europe and it’s within your reach.

I've known Richard Schilling for many years through the charity and he is very good but can appear brusque.

What is farapulse? I have vaguely been considering ablation and we live less than 2hrs drive from Bordeaux.

New form of catheter ablation which does nit damage the surrounding tissue, good results so far. 👍

If I recall correctly and if it hasn't changed over the last 5 years, Bordeaux leads the world!

Our French friends investigated the cost of a hip replacement for my mother some years ago; France was much cheaper than the UK for private surgery. I don't know about now, but worth checking out.

Hi ChrissyAs other posters have said Bordeaux is THE reference if your arrythmia is complicated. If it is straightforward it would be easier to find an EP anywhere in France but you need to check how many procedures he or she does.

I'll pm you if I have any ideas.

Take care.

Pr. Mélèze Hocini has a very good reputation at Bordeaux. She has a special interest in difficult arrythmias.
