Oh Rosie, poor you. I thought I had Covid, but none of the many tests I took said I did. Guess it could have been a summer cough, sore throat and cold, though not had one in the summer before.
What are your symptoms?
Jean x
Sorry to hear this Rosemary. So far we have managed to avoid Covid but having been to two large concerts in Europe, it’s been more by luck than judgement! Hope you soon recover, all the oldies who we know have had it have made a relatively quick and full recovery…..best wishes, John
I caught it in May . It did not affect my AF at all but I did feel quite ill and completely wiped out for about 5/6 weeks. It was certainly not just a few snuffles that some people claim. I would even say that I'm still not quite back to normal. My husband tested negative.I do hope that yours is short lived.
Hi Rosie, caught Covid at start of August after successfully dodging it for over 2 years. It was rough. Had high temperature, sore throat, aches and pains and chesty cough. Luckily didn’t affect my AF.
Nearly 4 weeks on still feel very tired and have phlegm coming off chest. Going to contact doctors if it doesn’t clear soon.
Am walking my dog then having a sleep!
Just hanging on in here!
Hope you have it mild and you feel better soon x
Hope you improve soon. I haven't had it yet but if I did get it the first thing I would look at is this covid19criticalcare.com/wp-...
Hi Rosy, I had Covid a few weeks ago. For me it was worse than a cold but not as bad as the flu. High temperature, cough and loss of appetite. The worst was over in a few days. It didn’t bring on an episode of afib, but I did feel washed out. Hope you feel better soon.
Following a successful ablation in October 2018 I was completely free of AF until covid caught me at Easter. Since then I have been in continuous Afib/Aflutter despite a variety of medicines (various combinations of digoxin/bisoprolol/sotalol/tildiemLA) I'm having ecgs every 2-3 weeks now and an echo last week. My hospital follow up appt which was to be in December has now been brought forward September. My covid was symptomless apart from a slightly runny nose, I only tested because another family member regularly tests and their test was positive so I took one.
I had it last week, had quite a high heart rate at times, but was surprised it didn’t affect AF. I have asthma so the cough was coming from the soles in my shoes, so am now on antibiotics and steroids. Getting better now, but everyone is different. Hope you don’t get it too badly.
I finally caught it a week after my 5th jab, after shielding for so long.😠 the first 3 days were the worst for me i.e feverish, hot and cold chills.I took Paracetamol 2, 3 times daily and later on started my rescue pack ( Antibiotics and steroids) It more or less went after 10 days but lingered for a few weeks. It wasn't as bad as I first feared, thankfully. Keep testing and hopefully you'll clear up soon.
All the best.
I caught it about four weeks ago after managing to avoid it since the beginning. I was really quite surprised, I had a mild temperature and cold-like symptoms (but I have had much worse with an actual cold). I was unwell for about a week but not enough to confine me to bed. My husband was unwell for a night. But I do know of others who fared much worse. My heart behaved too, no AF.
I am in permanent AF and have had covid twice, apart from feeling a little more tired there seemed to be no effect on my AF at all.
Great Thankyou
We missed it but our family and friends all had it. A week should see you through it, I’d say. In two friends it took much longer with fatigue lasting; in one, elderly, it brought on just one symptom: pneumonia!

Hi Rosy,
In late June, three days after going to the ER for knee X-ray after falling on my bicycle, I (76 Y.O. man with AFib) tested positive, and my wife tested positive three days after that. Because of Flecainide I could not take Paxlovid, and my wife refused to take it. It took 10 days for my wife to test negative and two weeks for me to do so. All symptoms were mild for her and moderate for me with some fever, lots of cough, headache. Terrible sore throat was worst for me. I have had far worse cases of flu in my life. All is well now with no apparent repercussions. None of it seemed to affect my AFib. Best to you, drink PLENTY of water with Covid, and get well soon.
I was always somewhat worried about getting Covid since I'm not vaccinated because of the bad press surrounding heart problems and clots and what not but then I contracted Covid last month from a family gathering and felt yucky for one afternoon and that night. I took some nyquil, vitamin d, zinc, a couple valerian with a glass of orange juice and went to sleep. Woke up next day with a slight sniffle and was able to mow the lawn. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones and more importantly it didn't affect my NSR.
HiHad it in May. Tested on a Wednesday, had monoclonal antibody infusion on Friday, two days later.
Just a slight cough and runny nose. Mainly fatigue.
No AFib issues.
Hope all goes well for you❤️
Hi Rosy, yes I had the nasty little virus in June but only had mild symptoms. The weirdest one was sore eyes! However, when I thought it was all over and done with, I had 3 dodgy days with Afib, for the first and only time since my ablations 5 years ago. All has been calm since though, fingers crossed.
I caught it on a flight to Cyprus back in May this year. 48 hrs after arriving I became very ill and spent 2 days and nights sleeping and wakening only to make cups of tea. Day 3 I finally tested positive and spent the next 5 days resting in the shade on my balcony or laying about in the room with all patio doors wide open to blow the germs away. The worst symptom was the constant diahorrea but once that stopped I was testing negative again just in time to travel home.
I had Covid in June, what surprised me most was that in had not adverse effect on my AF or ectopics. I did have an increased HR at the beginning as one would expect when fighting an infection, this settled quickly. If I have a UTI or stomach bug that can start a AF episode for me but with Covid absolutely no effect for me on any heart rate unwelcome events.
Hiya Rosie,
Very sorry to read of your unwelcome CoVid adventures. I had a scary moment or two but found many of the CoVid symptoms seemed to be mimiked by some unusal ( and some normal) side effects of Bisoprolol. All my tests showed and still show normal.
Apart from that having driven buses and generally mixed with the wider community since the start of CoVid I have thus far avoided it. Have to say am bang up to date with my vacinations.
Anyway Rosie, I hope your bout isn't too severe and that you soon return to your normal self.
Best wishes,
John
Thank you John!!
I caught Covid in April: had sore throat, difficulty swallowing and coughing. Had been in AF for six months before I got Covid. They had to postpone my ablation for seven weeks. Hope you feel better soon.
