It's been 3 days since my cardioversion and I was hoping to be feeling far better than I do, I'm getting palpitations and still very tired, fatigued and feeling a bit shaky, my energy levels are so low. My Kardia Mobile ECG is showing a regular extra beat .... my wife says I'm expecting too much too soon, is she right and is it normal to be feeling so run down this period after conversion?

No in my experience. I aways felt on top of the world immediately after cardioversion and so grateful to be back in NSR.
That is the whole point of a DCCV to see if you can revert to NSR and if so do you feel better in that condition. Whilst a DCCV is not a cure for anything it is a useful tool to guide future treatment since if the asnwers to both questions is yes then it could suggest ablation as a future treatment.
I suggest that you speak to your medical centre about having an ECG to see what is actually happening as it is quite posible that you have dropped back into AF. If it is only ectopic acitivity then time may help.
Following my original post I suddenly went into an elevated pulse and high blood pressure, my KardiaMobile starting showing possible AF. Because of the high BP and pulse I returned to the cardiac day unit who confirmed I have reverted back to AFib and are increasing my bisoprolol from 1.25mg to 5mg (2x2.5) to counteract the high pulse.
I too have always felt instantly better after a cardioversion, but what you must remember is not to do anything too energetic in the days after having one and let your heart gain strength beating in it's correct rhythm. Do anything that requires energy and your heart may revert back into AF. I once walked up a steep hill the day after a cardioversion and felt my heart slip back into AF. How I regretted that, but it's too late once done!
How often is your Kardia showing an extra beat.

I felt the same after my cardioversion but it got much better after a few weeks. Hope you feel better soon
Good luck. Let us know how you get on!
Are you still taking any beta blocker kind of drugs. I found after a cardioversion if I continued with bosoprolol I collapsed with a low heart rate. Stopping the bisoprolol solved problem.. So talk to GP/hospital if you're still on certain drugs.
This was posted as a reply to BobD as a follow up to the orginal post ....

I always felt great right after my 1st couple of Cardioversions but it was short lived cause I was back in afib within a few days. If the medication they put you on after being back in NSR isn't effective you will ultimately need another with a change in medication and then an ablation on meds and so on and so on. It's a vicious cycle of misery until they get it right.
